2009 has been a year of changes and improvements at Integrity Technology Solutions.  Like many of you, we have been focusing on operational efficiencies and improved productivity.  Did you know that we also committed to a business model of Open Book Management early in 2009?   We share our financials with all of our employees and teach financial literacy (income statements, balance sheets, cash flow) so that our employees learn about business and the impact that each of them have in our financial success.  It's been exciting to watch employees come up with great ideas that reduce our expenses and improve productivity.  This approach has been tremendous in our business and, in turn, is also impacting our clients as well. 
 
Gaining more financial insight in operating our business allows our employee's to better advise clients.  Our technology advisors are able to consider all aspects of a client's business when making recommendations.  Rather than focusing on technology alone, our recommendations focus on how technology can help clients achieve business objectives.

Many small-business owners get it when it comes to the influence and reach of the Internet. But what they may not fully appreciate is how that medium can be used exclusively within their own business.

 

Planning and programming an intranet - an internal Web site restricted to those within your company - can prove a boon to communication, project management and a host of other responsibilities. But using it effectively means more than building it, plugging it in, and letting it rock.

 

With software such as Windows SharePoint Services, a private Web site could also easily be converted into an "extranet," which is a restricted site that serves an internal audience but also allows in selected outside partners and others. Extranets are particularly useful when outside vendors are key members of project teams.
