| What's Been Going On? |

Mariner Foundation recently donated $5,100 to the Clubs for the Project Learn program (see check presentation photo above). Project Learn is a nationally developed framework designed to give school-age youth access to academic support away from school, improve their ability to learn, and boost their academic self-esteem. Project Learn is the core-operating framework through which all Club programming is implemented. As such, all Club members are involved in Project Learn at some level and frequency. Through five major program components, the Clubs mobilize their resources to help children succeed in school. Many thanks to Mariner for their generous donation!
Congratulations to Ryan Allen from the Wyandotte County Unit who was recently selected as the winner of a Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Year Award from Marquette University for fall, 2010! This full-tuition award is renewable for four years (eight semesters)! Way to go Ryan!
2010 Missouri State Youth of the Year Annitra McDonald competed at the Regional Youth of the Year Competition in Chicago last week. Although she did not win the Regional title, Annitra represented Missouri and our local Clubs well and we are very proud of her accomplishments! She now looks forward to attending UMKC in the fall. In addition, before she left for the competition, she received a special gift from Club partner Children's Mercy Family Health Partners - a $2,000 donation towards a new iMac laptop for college! Thanks to FHP and many congratulations to Annitra!
