| What's Been Going On? |

The Taco Bell Taco Truck made a stop in Kansas City on July 6 at the Thornberry Unit (see pictures above and at left). The Truck is traveling from Los Angeles to St. Louis for the MLB All-Star Game, stopping along the way at various Boys & Girls Clubs. The Taco Truck provided tacos and burritos to nearly 300 Club youth in celebration of summer and the Keystone Club Teen Leadership program. The Clubs held a Summer Slam for Teens in conjunction with the visit, including a 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament in the gym. Thank you Taco Bell for your outstanding support of the Clubs!
Youth from the East Side Unit were heavily involved in the Open House at the site of the future JD Wagner Boys & Girls Club held on June 23. The kids presented a skit, a praise routine and a powerful Maya Angelou poem. The day before, they helped bake delicious chocolate chip cookies for the event with Board Member (and corporate Club supporter) Jean Loesch from General Mills.
The Clubs were selected to participate in a special event with Disney at Kauffman Stadium this past Sunday, July 5. Disney will release the movie G-Force later this summer and teamed up with the Kansas City Royals to hold "G-Force Day" at the K. The day included an opportunity to throw out the first pitch - which they passed on to the Clubs! Thanks to Disney and Terry Hines & Associates for offering the Clubs such a fun opportunity.
The Wyandotte County Unit Keystone Club has been selected by Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) to receive a Taco Bell Foundation for Teens Scholarship to attend the 2009 Regional Keystone Conference as the winner of the Academic Success Event Contest. Congratulations to our Wyandotte County teen leaders!
