This Week at the Clubs
May 17-24, 2009
Greetings!

In an effort to keep you more informed on what's happening at the Clubs, we will send out out this weekly e-newsletter with the latest and greatest Club events and activities!
What's Been Going On?

Girl with Drawing
The Wyandotte County Unit is now playing flag rugby! The youth, led by Sports, Fitness & Recreation Program Coordinator Danny Capps, are participating in the Saints Rugby Flag League. The league is led by Tim Kluempers, head coach of St. Thomas Aquinas Rugby and president of the Kansas City Blues Rugby Football Club. Games are being played at Mid-America Sports Complex off of I-435 and Johnson Drive. Contact Danny at (913) 621-3260 for more information on when to catch a game!

The RBI First Pitch Dinner was a HUGE success, thanks in large part to the phenomenal support from the Kansas City Royals. For the first time this year, the event was held in the evening and combined with the Royals game. Over 150 people braved the rain to attend the event in the brand new Hall of Fame suites. The Clubs raised over $35,000 - the highest ever at First Pitch! Then the weather cleared just in time for guests to watch the Royals dazzle in an exciting win over the Blue Jays. Thank you to our hosts, the Kansas City Royals, for making this an event to remember!

The East Side Unit hosted their 4th Annual Mother's Day Luncheon on May 9 from 12:30-2:30 p.m. The luncheon honored both mothers of Club members AND staff members who are moms. Members presented poems, a special dance, and a great lunch for the mothers in attendance.

Don't forget to use GoodSearch.com for your online searches and GoodShop.com for your online shopping to benefit the Clubs. Just enter "Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City" as the charity you want to support!
