| What's Been Going On? |

All five of the Boys & Girls Clubs Units celebrated Earth Day on April 22 in a special way this year, thanks to our Club friends at Magic Touch Cleaning. Each Unit planted trees and decorated special rain barrels provided by Magic Touch so they can begin recycling rain water and help better the environment (see photo at left). The rain water collected will be used to water the new trees throughout the year. Special thanks to Gary Walker (aka the "King of Green") and his wife Trish, for helping the Clubs in our effort to Go Green!
On Saturday, April 25, the RBI program held its annual Spring Training Day, along with the Pitch, Hit & Run competition. Pitch, Hit & Run is a skills competition for boys and girls, ages 7-14. The local winners will have a chance to compete at sectionals, and those champions will continue competing up to the national level. The National Finals will be held in St. Louis during the MLB All-Star Week this summer!
The Wyandotte County Unit is now playing flag rugby! The youth, led by Sports, Fitness & Recreation Program Coordinator Danny Capps, are participating in the Saints Rugby Flag League. The league is led by Tim Kluempers, head coach of St. Thomas Aquinas Rugby and president of the Kansas City Blues Rugby Football Club. Games are being played at Mid-America Sports Complex off of I-435 and Johnson Drive. Contact Danny at (913) 621-3260 for more information on when to catch a game!
