This Week at the Clubs April 6-12, 2009 |
|
|
|
| Greetings! |
|
In an effort to keep you more informed on what's happening at the Clubs, we send out this weekly e-newsletter with the latest and greatest Club events and activities! This week, we turn our focus to our RBI (Reviving Baseball in the Inner City) program! |
| What's Been Going On With RBI? |
What is RBI?
Every year, hundreds of area youth have a dynamic experience learning baseball fundamentals, having fun with their friends, and developing valuable life skills like teamwork, sportsmanship, respect, personal responsibility and communication. As our RBI motto states, "It's More Than Baseball...It's Life!" We believe every child who desires to play should have access to a quality program - the RBI program. The program provides uniforms, equipment, practice and game fields, trophies and training for only $25 per player!
Welcome New Staff for 2009 Season!
The RBI Program is thrilled to welcome two new RBI staff members to the Boys & Girls Clubs team:
RBI Director Ronald Stevenson brings a wealth of baseball experience to this role, as a player, coach and businessman. A college baseball standout, he was scouted by the New York Mets AA Club where he played before being recruited by Kansas City's own legend (and great RBI supporter) Buck O'Neil! A 9-year coach in the RBI program, Ronald has sent over 30 players to college on baseball scholarships.
RBI Senior Program Director Phil Harris brings over 19 years of experience as a coach, scheduler, officiator, trainer and Umpire-in-Chief for the KCMSBL as well as the USSSA for both youth and adult baseball and softball leagues. Recognized as Umpire of the Year by KC Sports, Phil was recently inducted into the Umpire American Youth Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY!
Together, Ronald's and Phil's vision for the RBI program is to focus on the quality of our product. They will look at ways to improve all aspects of the program with the ultimate goal of having colleges come to RBI to recruit players.
