How Your Donation Changed Lives This Year

Cornea recipientThe numbers are in! Thanks to the support of generous financial donors like you, the Missouri Lions Eye Research Foundation and Heartland Lions Eye Banks helped more people than ever before this past fiscal year!

We screened 41,274 preschoolers through our Children’s Vision Screening program, screened 5,659 seniors for glaucoma and age-related macular degeneration, and provided eye care assistance to 141 individuals.

In addition, the Eye Bank gave the gift of sight by providing tissue for 2,375 cornea transplants, helping individuals like Robin whose vision was restored within one day of undergoing surgery...

August is Children's Eye Health and Safety Month!

Children's Vision Screening programThe Foundation is dedicated to helping kids start the school year with better vision. During Children's Eye Health and Safety Month (CEHSM) this August, we're honored to provide free Children's Vision Screenings (CVS) at back-to-school events and schools throughout the month. Eye Bank Honors National Minority Donor Awareness Day

National Minority Donor Awareness DayApproximately 56% of individuals on the national organ transplant list are minorities. Right now, 64,000 minority patients are waiting for life-saving transplants, and thousands more require life-enhancing tissue, bone and corneal transplants.

On Wednesday, August 1, the Eye Bank joined our partners in donation in encouraging individuals to pledge to give the gift of life and sight in honor of National Minority Awareness Day...

Each Thursday, the Foundation sends out CVS and Healthy Vision Screening (HVS) information for the next two weeks through the Lions Listserv.
