The Eye Bank Honors Legacies of Eye Donor and Co-Worker in 2012 Tournament of Roses Parade

On January 1, the lives of two incredible women close to the Eye Bank family will be honored during the 2012 Tournament of Roses Parade.

The Eye Bank is participating in the 2012 Donate Life Rose Parade Float by sponsoring a floragraph- or floral portrait- of eye, organ and tissue donor, Mariah West. The Eye Bank chose to honor Mariah’s donation in memory of Darian Vanderhoofven, our fellow colleague who lost her life in the Joplin tornado. Vision Screening Keeps Preschooler in Focus

Blake is an active preschooler who loves to read books, play outside and color pictures. In fact, he is so adept at his favorite activities that his parents never thought that he might have problems seeing. 100 Million in the U.S. Now Registered as Organ and Tissue Donors!

A goal set by Donate Life America and the donation and transplant community in 2006 was achieved this month. One hundred million people in the United States are now reported as registered organ, eye and tissue donors through state donor registries.
