Increased Need in Eye Care Assistance
 For years, the Foundation has worked closely with Knights Templar Foundation to provide financial assistance for those in need of vision care through our Eye Care Assistance (ECA) program. In many cases, Knights Templar would cover the costs of eye surgery while the Foundation covered pre- and post-op treatment.
However, within the next six months, Knights Templar is going to focus its funding on research as opposed to direct care. That means providing assistance to the visually impaired is going to be even more critical to the Foundation. Already this fiscal year, we’ve provided funding and referrals to 68 Missouri eye care patients and supplied gratis corneal tissue to 103 individuals here and around the world. However, the numbers of those in need continue to grow.

Recipients and Donors Honored on Rose Parade Float
 On January 1, 2011, 15 roses will be placed on the Donate Life Seize the Day! Rose Parade float by the Eye Bank to celebrate the lives of eye and tissue donors from our service area and to recognize cornea recipients who have been blessed with the gift of sight. Find out who the honorees are in your community.
Be sure to tune in to the Tournament of Roses Parade at 10:00 am (CST) on January 1, 2011 through ABC, NBC, HGTV, RFD-TV or the Hallmark Channel. The Donate Life float will be the 22nd float in the parade. We are excited once again to participate in this moving tribute to donation.
