MLERF Receives Funding From Boeing Toward Purchase of Plusoptix Unit
During the month of June, the Foundation was the recipient of a $1,500 grant from Boeing’s Employees Community Fund. The grant reward will go toward the purchase of a Plusoptix unit to be used in the St. Louis area by our full time MLERF staff technician. The Foundation is excited about the new partnership with Boeing and looks forward to meeting a new 2009-2010 fiscal year screening goal of 30,000 children!
Established by McDonnell Aircraft founder James S. McDonnell in 1947 as a charitable payroll deduction plan, the Employees Community Fund of Boeing St. Louis (ECF) has raised more than $150 million for charities in the St. Louis region.

Local Lions are invited to join us for the meeting which will be held at 9:00 a.m. at the University Plaza Hotel in the Arkansas Room. For additional information, please contact the Foundation's PR Department at 1-800-283-1982 ext. 107.

Volunteer Opportunities Still Available at the Missouri State Fair!
Thank you to all the Lions who have already signed up to volunteer at the Foundation's booth at the Missouri State Fair!
If you're interested in participating, there are still plenty of shifts open from August 13th through 23rd. As a volunteer, you will assist our staff at amblyopia and glaucoma screenings or encourage fairgoers to join Missouri's eye and organ donor registry.
To volunteer, please contact Annie Kuhl at 800.283.1982, ext. 107 or
akuhl@mlerf.org.
Have You Heard?
In order to help promote the Foundation's free vision screenings at the St. Louis Science Center on July 25-26, we will be running ads on Y98 the week prior to the event. We hope that this helps to attract families from the greater St. Louis metro area to help us meet our goal of screening 700 children in the two-day period.
