September 2012
Editor's note: I have been asking a team member to contribute the monthly letter. Up this month: Eliezer Alvarado. You can learn more about Eliezer here. His blog is here. Dear BECA Amigo,
BECA is are starting the month of September, and with it new stages are beginning in various parts of the program.
We begin by congratulating the first group that recently finished their scholarship classification round. This month they will begin to investigate the different technical centers to find a technical career according to their abilities.
More congratulations to the second group of youth who have passed the first of two stages of classification (computer course). They are set to begin the social service component of their classification - the "Brigade" -in early September.
We also welcome our new partner school "Rafaela Herrera Public School" located in the beautiful town of Diriomo, Granada.
Moreover we thank one of our sponsors, the Canadian Albert Lavergne, who honored us with his presence for two weeks. He spent his time getting to know our BECA family in Nicaragua.
He had the opportunity to spend a little time with Ms. Maribel Cerda, who he originally sponsored three years ago. He also felt the desire to visit some of the beautiful places in our country.
Lastly, in August BECA handed out to our students new polo-style shirts with their names embroidered on the right sleeve. Sincerely, Eliezer Alvarado BECA.org Intern
