Dear BECA Amigo,
July is a month that brings exciting new changes to the program BECA.org Nicaragua.
One change is the new payment system for BECA students. Beginning this month each scholar will receive approximately USD $60.00 per month, divided into two transfers (on the 5th and 20th of each month).
Also changing is the BECA policy with respect to community service projects, student meetings, and the blogs. They will no longer be obligational. This means that it will be up to each becado to attend these activities. If they do choose to participate, they will receive a monthly bonus of C $ 200.00 (about USD $8.50).
I want to add what I will be busy with this month: visiting all of our students at home. This is where we have more personal contact with the parents, which are an important driver of support and encouragement for our students. A supportive family can make a big difference. We hope that next month brings new surprises.
