October 2011 Update
The month started off with a bang.
Thanks to the work of a couple of Canadian "Amigos", BECA is now a registered charity in Canada.
All of you supportive "canucks" will now receive tax receipts for your donations.
That makes me happy.
What doesn't make me happy is how things our going here in the city of Matagalpa.
We are conducting a pilot here and since the Coordinator quit I have moved here to oversee the project.
Our desertion rate is nearing 50%.
Equally disconcerting is that I personally don't feel a warm reception here. I really can't put my finger on it. I'm hoping it is just my imagination. <shrug>
Nevertheless, we plod ahead with our heads up and our attitudes positive.
It continues to be a lot of fun and I am grateful to all of you who continue to believe in what we are doing here in Nicaragua.
Sincerely, Walter Hunchak Founder, BECA.org
