November Update

2010 is quickly coming to a close for us here at BECA and with it come certain anxieties.
Anxiety #1. Student survival. It's crunch time at the schools and we will find out in November (and in a couple of cases, December) how many of the students made it. We have our fingers crossed.
Anxiety #2. Sponsorship season. One of the difficult things about this operation is the looming presence of the unknown. A nonprofit never knows how many people will actually step up and chip in.
In the last two years December accounted for between 80% and 90% of individual donations received at BECA.
This can be a little nerve-wracking because BECA is 100% funded by individual donations.
No government grants (at least not yet). No foundation grants (ditto).
For the time being, this suits me just fine. I have a clear vision for the organization and don't want to answer to any third party institutions right now.
