June Update
Dear ,
What does BECA do on a day-to-day basis here in Nicaragua?
Our priorities are as follows:
- Supervising the students. This is priority #1. Our goal is to visit each student in their school setting at least once a month. We manage their social projects in the community. Also, students drop in to the BECA office for consultations. 60%
- Website stuff. This entails posting the student candidates on the website, updating their profiles, doing videos, administering blogs, etc. 20%
- Bookkeeping and legal. Very tedious, but most necessary. The yuckiest is that we have to maintain two sets of books and two legal entities: one in Nicaragua and one in the U.S. 20%
- School relations. We keep in touch with the schools that BECA students attend. 5%
- Sponsor relations. Sending newsletters, replying to questions, and marketing efforts. 5%
Let's see . . . hmmmm . . . that makes 110%.
Well, you get the idea. We stay busy. The best thing - it's a lot of fun (except for the accounting).
