Life Stage Design:
Making Your Home Fit Perfectly

As we move through our lives, our circumstances and needs change, and with that, so does what we want and need to get out of our homes. Does this mean that at every stage of your life you need a different home? No. But it does mean that periodic modifications of your home will allow it to stay as well suited to your life as possible and allow you to fully enjoy the home that you love for much longer.

If you bought your home either before you started a family or while your children were still small, you may now find you need to increase your home's space or improve its layout. These renovations could include adding bedrooms, creating an open family room, or enlarging a kitchen to create more room for cooking or eating.

If you're an empty nester whose children have grown and moved out, unused rooms in your home can be transformed into welcome new spaces. Extra bedrooms and play areas can be turned into home offices, libraries, exercise rooms, hobby rooms or even high-tech media rooms wired with smart technology.

Perhaps you are one of the many homeowners who will appreciate our expertise in Multigenerational Remodeling. Whether you are welcoming parents or adult children into your home, or even enjoying a newly blended family, we have practical solutions that will give you the new space you need.

In addition, new interests can be better enjoyed with changes to your home. If you are entertaining more, you can expand your kitchen or dining room or even add a fun game room. If your life has gotten busier, you can transform your home into a calm oasis with a private master suite or bathroom.

Our lives are full of transition, and most of us probably don’t want to uproot our families and move to a new house every time our life stage changes. Remodeling your home can be a great solution, allowing you to stay in the house and community that you love, while keeping your house up-to-date with your life.

If you want to find out how we can make your home work better for your life, call Gridley at 408-374-0900 or go to our website at www.gridleycompany.com. At Gridley, we provide the ideas and you enjoy the solutions!

Monthly Home Maintenance Tip:
Make Your Home Fire-Safe

Did you check your smoke detectors when you changed your clocks? If not, now's the time to do so. Confirm there is one on each floor of your home with new batteries.

It's also a good time to make sure there is a fire extinguisher in your home near each place where a fire may start, such as the kitchen, garage, workshop, or barbecue area. And remember, an extinguisher should only be used on a very small fire that can be put out quickly.
