As you can imagine, we couldn’t be more delighted.

Gridley Wins Four 2009 NARI Meta Awards
Silver Award, Residential Addition
The Martin family came to us to help them
modernize their 1970’s home to meet the needs of their growing and dynamic
family. During our initial conversation, they expressed a desire
to transform their home’s restrictive, compartmentalized
floorplan into open, flexible living spaces that would promote
conversation and interaction.
Toward
this end, we designed a great room addition with floor to ceiling
windows, allowing for interior
drama, abundant natural
light, and lovely views of their landscaping and beyond. The
room’s dual-sided fireplace, enhanced by a rugged stone
surround and warm cherry mantel, flows seamlessly into an accent
wall with display niches and symmetrical windows. The fireplace
can also be enjoyed from the exterior patio, so the Martins
now entertain easily both indoors and out.
Having lived with an isolated, poorly planned kitchen for
some time, the Martins dreamed of an airy, welcoming kitchen
that would allow for conversational flow between the cook,
family, and household guests. They also required additional
seating, storage and counter space. The new kitchen layout
includes a peninsula with bar seating and integrated storage
which has added 6.5 linear feet of work surface. A new walk-in
storage area located off the dining room allows for easy access
to pantry items and home supplies from both the kitchen and
the garage.
The Martins couldn’t be happier with
their new addition which makes them feel like they have a
brand new home.
Silver
Award, Residential Bath
 The
Stovers came to us with a desire to transform their outdated
hall bathroom into a tranquil, spa-like
retreat where they
could relax after a hard day’s work. To accomplish this,
we designed a sophisticated space which showcases a harmonious
blending of organic finishings and modern amenities.
The bath’s natural features such
as bamboo cabinetry and river pebble flooring help create
the peaceful atmosphere
they were looking for. Beautiful mosaic tile resembling beach
glass delicately frames the large vanity mirror and adds eye-catching
detail to the travertine shower surround. To add to the spa-like
feel, we incorporated a Jacuzzi with an in-line heater, chromotherapy
and multi-speed motor.
The Stovers now have the perfect
place to escape at the end of the day.
Silver Award,
Residential Interior
The Stafford family found they no longer
used their home’s
traditional living room and dining room for their intended
purpose, and sought to combine them into a dynamic new family
area. Specifically, they wanted a casual new space that would
encourage social interaction and serve as a welcoming hub for
entertainment and fun.
 By
removing the dining room header and enlarging the opening,
the two rooms were seamlessly united into one great, spacious
recreation room. A whimsical bar makes a pleasant gathering
spot for socializing with family and friends. A state-of-the-art
integrated sound system makes the room an ideal location for
enjoying music, electronic games and film.
The room’s bold color palette, striking
mahogany hardwood flooring, and free-form lighting all add
to the warmth and
drama of the room. The formal fireplace surround serves as
a relaxed focal point by combining natural, textured stone
with glass and gun metal fireplace doors.
The Staffords now have the space they need to create fun family
memories with their young teens.
Silver
Award, Residential Bath
The Staffords also elicited a desire to transform their lifeless,
undersized master bath into a spacious, tranquil and private
retreat. A review of the current floor plan revealed that by
relocating the master bath to the adjacent office, we could
create a spa-like bath with a roomy steam shower, whirlpool
tub and oversized vanity.
Organic materials such as earthy
rainforest brown granite, glass, and slate help add texture
and interest while promoting
the calm mood the Staffords were looking for. New lighting
further enhances the relaxed feel of the room, with Italian
hand-blown glass pendants and wall sconces casting a warm glow,
and a new skylight allowing wonderful natural light into the
once-dark space.
The Staffords now enjoy a
home sanctuary where they get away from it all.
Home Maintenance Tip:
An Easy Way to Save on Water
Even if you have a low-flow toilet, it can still
waste water if it’s not in good repair. To find out if
your toilet is in good working order, just add a small amount
of red food coloring to the tank and check back in 30 minutes.
If you see that the water in the bowl has turned red, water
is seeping through from the tank indicating it’s time
to replace some tank parts.
Warm regards,
