Practical Remodeling Is In Style

Every homeowner has a personal “If only…” list – a mental list of changes that would finally make their home feel like it’s just the right fit. “If only my house had a better layout and felt lighter and brighter,” or “If only I had more room to put everything!” or “If only I had more counter space in my kitchen” – all of the things that prevent you from really enjoying your home. If you thought you would have to make do with your not-just-right home, why not consider these five practical, high-benefit remodeling projects that will make your home closer to what you’ve always wanted it to be:

Remove Walls to Improve Flow
One high impact change that will make a big difference in how you feel in your home is eliminating a rigidly segmented floor plan that feels constrictive or isolates people in the home from one another. We can determine how best to remove and reposition walls to improve and open the flow of your home. These structural and design changes create more breathing space for you, and more welcoming areas for your family and friends to gather.

Give Yourself Some Elbow Room
If older parents or adult children moving into your home have made it go from just right to too tight, consider expanding. You can build a separate master suite with its own entrance and even its own kitchen and bath for added privacy. Or, transform your attic or basement space into additional living areas so that everyone has room to enjoy themselves.

Create New Spaces
With entertainment prices on the rise, you may be choosing to spend more of your time at home. If so, you should consider adding desirable yet practical spaces that will give you immediate value by improving your lifestyle now.

If you're eating in more, consider an updated kitchen. A new layout can improve flow and function and make your kitchen feel more spacious and inviting. If you are already happy with your basic design, consider giving your kitchen a mini-makeover by adding new counters, cabinets, flooring or energy-efficient appliances.

Or perhaps your wish list has always included a wonderful, personal space to call your own. Maybe a window-walled sunroom where you can leisurely read the Sunday paper, or a beautiful master retreat where you can relax while sinking into a deep bubble bath. How nice it will feel to fully enjoy the time you’ve earned in a place you now love!

Put Everything in Its Place
We commonly hear from homeowners who tell us that excessive clutter makes them feel their home is simply bursting at the seams. If this is one of the items on your “If only…” list, we offer innovative and well-designed space solutions such as customized walk-in closets, supplemental pantries, finished storage spaces with custom cabinetry, or designated home study areas or offices. Perfect space solutions working to make your home feel newly organized.

Come Home to Curb Appeal and Energy Savings
First impressions are lasting impressions, so creating curb appeal is one of the best and most cost-effective ways to improve the perceived value of a home. We can help you feel great when you drive up to your home by redesigning and updating your home’s façade, replacing worn siding or woodwork with low maintenance and well-insulated, energy-saving materials, or creating outside living spaces that make you feel like you’ve added a new room to your home!

Don’t Keep Wishing, Start Enjoying
So, if you plan to stay in your current home, and find your “wishlist” and your frustrations seem to grow each year, call us now or visit our website to learn more about the many practical and value-adding ways we can help you finally love your home.

Home Maintenance Tip:
Examine Your Light Bulbs

Check the light bulbs in all your fixtures to be sure they are the correct wattage as recommended by the manufacturer. Also consider replacing high-intensity bulbs with fluorescent bulbs that don't produce as much heat. Be sure to try some of the new "instant on" CFL (compact fluorescent light) bulbs that save energy and don't have the long delay of the old fluorescent bulbs.
