To help launch the book, radio producer and writer Dmae Roberts will be hosting me on her show Stage and Studio, tomorrow (Tuesday,) at 11 AM on Portland's KBOO Radio (90.7 FM.) A podcast of the show will be on KBOO's website as well as Itunes.
I know many of you have pre-ordered The Crying Tree, but for those of you who are waiting to get it at a bookstore, I would love to know where you are finding the book, and what your reaction to it is once you have read it. I also want you to know I have just posted the film, A CONVERSATION WITH SISTER HELEN PREJEAN, on my website. During the thirty minute interview, the author of Dead Man Walking and I talk about her views on the death penalty and what it is like to accompany a condemned man to the death chamber. She also speaks at great length about the stunning acts of forgiveness she has witnessed in her work with victim survivors. It was because of this interview, as well as my own experience covering executions, that I wrote The Crying Tree. I think you will get a great deal from the interview.
