"The Cottage Gallery" by Bill Hudson

A couple of weeks ago, I received a phone call from an old friend, Adam Sandy, with whom I used to rent studio space . He asked if I would be interested in showing my art at a relatively new gallery in Laguna Beach.  I drove to Laguna and spent about three hours talking with Adam and the proprietor, Ms. Nancy Stubbs. I appreciated their interest, sincerity and honesty. Nancy had acquired the property about a year ago. Until then it had been used for interior decoration. The cottage is located at 1524 South Coast Highway directly across the street from the Surf & Sand Resort and next to several other galleries.  Nancy loves art and had been using some of the space as her studio. The majority of space was the gallery which was sometimes used as a site for local events. Nancy and Adam have clear definition of the future path they wish to take and it requires some change. I feel good about their path and how I fit in, so I've happily signed on. I've included an initial press release below"

Cottage Gallery

The Cottage Gallery is the home of high-quality, investment art by well-established artists at appealing prices.  Located at 1524 South Coast Highway in Laguna Beach, California, "the cottage" was built as a home in 1930 when PCH was just a dirt road. A perfect setting for art, the gallery is filled with natural light and has open beam ceilings, natural wood floors, a large front room fireplace, and a spacious outdoor patio surrounded by woods.

"It is not serendipitous that this gallery has such a unique, welcoming feel. I wanted a space that was inviting and not snobbish; one that allows visitors to relax and enjoy art without pretense" remarks Nancy Stubbs, who became owner of the property and established the gallery in late 2009. Ms. Stubbs quickly became active in the community and is now Director of the First Thursday's Art Walk. She is focused on establishing a gallery identified with consistent quality.

To this end the Cottage Gallery has just been restructured through the efforts of the recently appointed Gallery Director, Mr. Adam Sandy and resident maritime artist William A. "Bill" Hudson. A new website reflecting the gallery vision and participating artists will be released on March 1, 2011.  The first opening for this gallery team will be Thursday, February 3rd, 2011.  The work of Patrick Whelan will be proudly featured.
Here's what artists are saying about the Mahl Bridge...

"I'm lost without this tool and need to get one more (length) to add to my collection. Keep up the wonderful work. I can't even imagine how anyone does without at least one of these now. Once you try one, you're hooked. Why ANYONE would use an old fashioned mahl stick now when the Mahlbridge is available is truly beyond me!"   -  Anita Gersch,   July 2010  www.AnitaGerschEquineArt.com
