12 Ways to Overcome the Fear of Entrepreneurship
Part 1: Facing Fear, Creating a Compelling Why, Opportunity, and Timing.
Part 2: Faith, Relationships, Benefits, and Mistakes
Part 3: Don't Give Up, Protect Yourself from Negative People, Hard Work, and The Necessity of Excelling
Greetings!
Today I was asked by Mark S. on FaceBook," How do you make yourself not be afraid to start a business?"  The reason for going into business can evoke as much fear as the, "What ifs?" There are many reasons that people think about going into business: to fulfill a dream, be their own boss, make lots of money, control over their time, market their unique skills or products, serve humanity, or perhaps just for the tax write-offs.  In some ways, we are all entrepreneurs and WE are the product being sold to our bosses, clients, significant others, etc.  In 2011, I will celebrate 24 years of being in business. Whether you want to go into business or not, the 12 entrepreneurial tips on how to not let fear stop you will hopefully boost that entrepreneurial spirit in you.
Part 1: Facing Fear, Creating a Compelling WHY, Opportunity, and Timing.
I started my business in 1987 and I can't honestly say that I wasn't afraid back then.  But I do know I had more faith than fear. SO WHAT, if you are afraid, DO IT ANYWAY!  The only way to overcome fear is to face it.  Sometimes that fear is  cathartic, other times it's cancerous.  More on Facing Fear,  'Creating a Compelling Why', Opportunity, and 'Timing.'
Part 2: Faith, Relationships, Knowing the Benefits, and Learning from Mistakes

I had to focus on the benefits of being in business not the challenges of being in business. Just believe in and focus on your goal.  The challenges will come anyway in time, so deal with them then.  To focus on the problems in advance is called "worry" and is a waste of your precious and limited time. Faith, Relationships, Benefits, Learning from Mistakes.

Part 3. Don't Give Up, Protect Yourself from Negative People, Hard Work, and the Necessity of Excelling
As I mentioned, I've been in business almost 24 years and there have been some very good years and very bad years.  Instead of giving up, I've had to re-invent or retool myself over and over again through the years and change with the tides.  We must be flexible to respond to the nonstop changes in business.  Sometimes I changed my products, sometimes my delivery method, other times, it was my audience. One of the hardest challenges I had to overcome...

December Health Chronicles
We still don't have a definitive diagnosis for my daughter.   The spinal tap she got was leaking fluid and caused her to have severe headaches and excruciating lower back pain.  She had to go back into the hospital to do a procedure to stop the leaking.  We've been waiting for an appointment at Johns Hopkins since August, and finally this Friday we''ll see a specialist.   Thank you, and please keep praying.
