Continuing Education Credits
 
The LEBC is applying where practicable for one hour continuing education credit for eligible presentations with the Kentucky Bar Association, the Joint Board of the Enrollment of Actuaries, the Kentucky State Board of Accountancy, the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries, and the Kentucky Department of Insurance. Forms for qualifying continuing education credits will be available at the registration table.
 
The speaker presentation for this meeting is scheduled for sixty (60) minutes and will begin as soon after 12:00 noon as practicable.

Speaker Presentation
 
Gregory W. Kasten, MD, CFP, CPC, AIFA of Unified Trust Company will present "Lifetime Pay and Benefits in Retirement."
 
Dr. Gregory W. Kasten is the founder and serves as the CEO of Unified Trust Company, with more than 25 years of investment experience. Each year since 2006 Unified Trust Company has received the certification as to Fiduciary Practices for Investment Advisors awarded by CEFEX, the Centre for Fiduciary Excellence, LLC, with Unified Trust being the first trustee so certified in the United States, and among the first globally, under the independent CEFEX certification process. Unified Trust was certified for its discretionary investment services provided in a trust environment for trustee-directed and participant-directed defined contribution plans and individual investors

 

Following graduation from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in 1980, Dr. Kasten completed an internal medicine internship and anesthesiology residency at the University of Kentucky Medical Center and is a board-certified anesthesiologist. He received a master of business administration degree with an emphasis on finance and investment management from the University of Kentucky College of Business Graduate School. Dr. Kasten was awarded the Accredited Investment Fiduciary Analyst (AIFA) designation by the Center for Fiduciary Studies, the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation by the Denver College of Financial Planning, and the Certified Pension Consultant (CPC) designation by the American Society of Pension Actuaries.

 

Dr. Kasten has published more than 75 papers on financial planning and investment-related topics in various financial and business journals, has written two editions of the book Retirement Success, and has developed the Unified Fiduciary Monitoring Index, a method of measuring mutual fund and predictive performance factors observed from a fiduciary standpoint. He has presented numerous lectures on fiduciary best practices to pension professionals and Federal banking regulators. During 2007-2009, Medical Economics listed Dr. Kasten as one of the "150 Best Financial Advisors for Doctors" nationally. In 2007-2010, Dr. Kasten oversaw development of the UnifiedPlan, a financial planning tool that is designed to create a "pension-like" experience for 401(k) plan participants and to enhance their prospects for retirement success.

Meeting & Guest Policies

You are invited to attend all LEBC monthly luncheon and presentation meetings as well as LEBC Sub-Council meetings.

The monthly luncheon meetings are the second Tuesday of the month and begin at 11:30 a.m. with registration and a time for networking and socializing. Lunch will be served at Noon. Speaker presentations begin at approximately 12:15 p.m. Meetings will conclude no later than 1:30 p.m. 

Guests are welcome at our monthly luncheon meetings for a fee of $50. Add your guest information to the RSVP, or notify the Membership Chair:

Sub-Council meetings are the fourth Tuesday of the month and begin at 12 noon. Cost for attending these meetings is $40 for members who did not sign up with their annual dues and $50 for guests.  
If you would like to attend a Sub-Council meeting, RSVP through the newsletter and pay at the door when you arrive for the meeting.

Please note that members are asked to confirm their attendance at all meetings.  

**No-shows are a recurring problem and continue to adversely affect the LEBC's efforts to manage expenses.**   

The Marriott charges the LEBC for all reservations made and not cancelled by noon on the Friday immediately prior to the Luncheon.
