Speaker Presentation

Mark Franklin, of Stoll Keenon & Ogden will be presenting "Legal '101' for non-lawyers."

Mark Franklin has been an attorney with Stoll Keenon & Ogden since 2007.  He is a member of the Business Entities and Transactions Practice Group.  His practice focuses on three areas - tax-exempt municipal financing, employee benefits law, and mergers and acquisitions.

Mr. Franklin regularly serves as bond counsel and issuer's counsel in tax-exempt municipal financings.  Recently, he has served as issuer's counsel in several healthcare and other 501(c)(3) related financings.  As an employee benefits lawyer, he helps employers adopt and maintain employee benefit plans, including profit sharing plans and 401(k) plans.  In his mergers and acquisitions practice, he represents trustees of employee stock ownership plans in the acquisition of employer stock.  In addition, he has defended the transactions post-closing before the United States Department of Labor and the Internal Revenue Service.

Mr. Franklin is a member of the Louisville, Kentucky, and American Bar Associations, as well as the Kentucky Society of CPAs, the ESOP Association and the National Association of Bond Lawyers.  He gives back to the community by volunteering his time at a local Alzheimer's Nursing Home and the Professional Services Trust.  Married with three dogs that all came from humane shelters, Mr. Franklin enjoys reading, playing the guitar and watching college sports in his free time.

We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, January 25, 2011.
