Continuing Education Credits
The LEBC is applying for one hour continuing education credit for eligible presentations with the Kentucky Bar Association, the Joint Board of the Enrollment of Actuaries, the Kentucky State Board of Accountancy, the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries, the Kentucky Department of Insurance. Forms for continuing education credits will be available at the registration table.

Speaker Presentation
Kevin Shimkus, Senior Manager, Deloitte Tax, LLP, will speak on "Applying US Tax Rules to International C & B Arrangements."
Kevin Shimkus is Senior Manager at Deloitte Tax, LLP in Chicago. Mr. Shimkus has over 24 years of Employment Tax consulting experience. Mr. Shimkus specializes in, and has extensive experience with, Federal and State employment taxation and information reporting, as well as state unemployment tax.
Mr. Shimkus has been involved in projects addressing such issues as: 409A compliance, state taxation of nonqualified deferred payments and stock options, state income tax withholding obligations on qualified retirement plans, FICA taxation of medical residence, independent contractor/worker classification, common agent/common paymaster, taxation of settlement agreements, state taxation for multistate employees and supplemental unemployment plans. He has also provided employment tax/payroll integration consulting services on over 1000 mergers and acquisitions.
Mr. Shimkus has a B.S. from Illinois State University, and is a Certified Public Accountant.

October Sub-Council Meeting

Meeting & Guest Policies
You are invited to attend all LEBC monthly luncheon and presentation meetings as well as LEBC Sub-Council meetings.
The monthly luncheon meetings are the second Tuesday of the month and begin at 11:30 a.m. with registration and a time for networking and socializing. Lunch will be served at Noon. Speaker presentations begin at approximately 12:15 p.m. Meetings will conclude no later than 1:30 p.m.
Guests are welcome at our monthly luncheon meetings for a fee of $50. Add your guest information to the RSVP, or notify the Membership Chair:

Sub-Council meetings are the fourth Tuesday of the month and begin at 12 noon. Cost for attending these meetings is $40 for members who did not sign up with their annual dues and $50 for guests.
If you would like to attend a Sub-Council meeting, RSVP through the newsletter and pay at the door when you arrive for the meeting.

Please note that members are asked to confirm their attendance at all meetings.
**No-shows are a recurring problem and continue to adversely affect the LEBC's efforts to manage expenses.**
The Marriott charges the LEBC for all reservations made and not cancelled by noon on the Friday immediately prior to the Luncheon.
