Day At The Downs
It was an enjoyable day at Churchill Downs May 14th. LEBC members John Bartlett, Greg Watkins, Sherrie Troutman and Larry Lynn presented the trophy to Calvin Borel in the sixth race sponsored by LEBC .
To add extra excitement to the day many of the attendees invested in the Pick Six pool generated by Chuck Lynch. Below is Chuck with the winning ticket. Pre-tax winnings of $8,417.20 was divided by 43 shares. After tax withholdings, each $10 share was paid $138.

Continuing Education Credits
The LEBC is applying for one continuing education credit for eligible presentations with the Kentucky Bar Association, the Joint Board of the Enrollment of Actuaries, the Kentucky State Board of Accountancy, the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries, the Kentucky Department of Insurance. Forms for continuing education credits will be available at the registration table.

Speaker Presentation
Mark E. Sullivan will speak on "What About My Job? and (USERRA and Military Leave Act."
Mark E. Sullivan is the principal of Law Offices of Mark E. Sullivan, P.A., in Raleigh, North Carolina. He has limited his trial practice to family law since 1981 and has been certified by the North Carolina State Bar as a Family Law Specialist since 1989. He has been quoted in the Wall Street Journal, Town & Country Magazine, Law Weekly USA and The Raleigh News & Observer, and has had articles published in the American Journal of Family Law, Family Law Quarterly, Family Advocate, The Military Law Review, the Army Lawyer, Family Advocate, and The Practical Lawyer. Mr. Sullivan is the editor of "Family Law Practice and Procedure Manual" (NC Academy of Trial Lawyers, 2000), and he has written numerous articles on trial advocacy, negotiating techniques, the use of computers, and the practice of family law.
He is a frequent speaker at military and family law programs and is an annual lecturer on family law at the Army JAG School and the Naval Justice School. Mr. Sullivan is a member of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, the Family Law Sections of the North Carolina Bar Association and the American Bar Association, the Judge Advocates Association, and the Reserve Officers Association. In September, 2000, he was certified by the AAML as a family law arbitrator, and he is the past-president of the North Carolina Chapter of the AAML. He is a retired colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve. Mr. Sullivan's book, The Military Divorce Handbook, was published in May 2006 by the American Bar Association.

V. Brandon McGrath, Associate in the Cincinnati Office of Greenebaum, Doll & McDonald PLLC will present "ERISA Litigation Update."
Mr. McGrath will focus on:
- Recent 401(k) fees litigation
- Fiduciary and stock drop litigation
- Scope of civil remedies under ERISA

Meeting & Guest Policies
You are invited to attend all LEBC monthly luncheon and presentation meetings as well as LEBC Sub-Council meetings.
The monthly luncheon meetings are the second Tuesday of the month and begin at 11:30 a.m. with registration and a time for networking and socializing. Lunch will be served at Noon. Speaker presentations begin at approximately 12:15 p.m. Meetings will conclude no later than 1:30 p.m.
Guests are welcome at our monthly luncheon meetings for a fee of $50. Add your guest information to the RSVP, or notify the Membership Chair:

Sub-Council meetings are the fourth Tuesday of the month and begin at 12 noon. Cost for attending these meetings is $40 for members who did not sign up with their annual dues and $50 for guests.
If you would like to attend a Sub-Council meeting, RSVP through the newsletter and pay at the door when you arrive for the meeting.

Please note that members are asked to confirm their attendance at all meetings.
**No-shows are a recurring problem and continue to adversely affect the LEBC's efforts to manage expenses.**
The Marriott charges the LEBC for all reservations made and not cancelled by noon on the Friday immediately prior to the Luncheon.
