Important 2009 LEBC Information
2009 Officers & Program Committee Members
At the January Meeting, which is the LEBC Annual Meeting, the slate of 2009 officers will be proposed and voted on by LEBC Members.
In order that we have a quorum, we ask that all Members make an effort to attend this meeting.
The 2009 proposed Officer slate is as follows:

- Membership Chair: John Bartlett
- Sub-Council Chair: Ben Evans
- Immediate Past President: Jeff Hamilton
During the December Holiday Luncheon, the following Program Committee Members were recognized for their commitment and dedication after completing a two-year term.

Continuing Education Credits
The LEBC is applying for one continuing education credit for each presentation with the Kentucky Bar Association, the Joint Board of the Enrollment of Actuaries, the Kentucky State Board of Accountancy, the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries, the Kentucky Department of Insurance and the Indiana Department of Insurance. Forms for continuing education credits will be available at the registration table.

Invoices were mailed in December for Annual Membership Dues, in the amount of $275 per Member.
The cost of four Retirement Plan Meetings is $120.
The cost of four Health & Welfare Meetings is $120.

Speaker Presentation
James E. Gibson, managing director, J.P. Morgan will speak on Looking Back, Looking Ahead: The Credit Crisis & The Economy from the Perspective of a Career Credit Markets Investor.
Gibson is the head high yield trader and a co-portfolio manager for high yield accounts at JP Morgan Asset Management. He is a member of the High Yield Management Review Committee, contributing to JP Morgan's overall perspective on the U.S. economy in relation to the corporate debt markets. He has been both in the high yield investment industry and an employee since 1988. He holds a B.S. in finance from the University of Cincinnati College of Business Administration.

January Sub-Council Meeting

C. Brent Smith, WMS, Managing Director, Stegner Investment Associates, Inc., will present "Best Practices for Creating a Plan Lineup While Satisfying ERISA Guidelines."
The presentation will address the guidelines under ERISA for an investment option lineup as well as industry trends in the number of investment options to offer participants based on statistics regarding the number of participants in a plan.
The presentation will also address best practices to evaluate, select and monitor investment managers, focusing on people, philosophy, process, and performance. |

Meeting & Guest Policies
You are invited to attend all LEBC monthly luncheon and presentation meetings as well as LEBC Sub-Council meetings.
The monthly luncheon meetings are the second Tuesday of the month and begin at 11:30 a.m. with registration and a time for networking and socializing. Lunch will be served at Noon. Speaker presentations begin at approximately 12:15 p.m. Meetings will conclude no later than 1:30 p.m.
Guests are welcome at our monthly luncheon meetings for a fee of $50. Add your guest information to the RSVP, or notify the Membership Chair:

Sub-Council meetings are the last Tuesday of the month and begin at 12 noon. Cost for attending these meetings is $40 for members and $50 for guests.
If you would like to attend a Sub-Council meeting, RSVP through the newsletter and pay at the door when you arrive for the meeting.

Please note that members are asked to confirm their attendance at all meetings.
**No-shows are a recurring problem and continue to adversely affect the LEBC's efforts to manage expenses.**
The Marriott charges the LEBC for all reservations made and not cancelled by noon on the Friday immediately prior to the Luncheon.
