October Monthly Luncheon Meeting

Parking vouchers are available at meetings for individuals parking in the Marriott garage. Valet parking will not be reimbursed.  
 
Speaker Presentation
 
Susan Hoffman, Attorney at Law, Littler Mendelson, will make a presentation on "Professional Responsibility Issues and Answers Specific to Employee Benefits Counsel."
 
Hoffman is a shareholder with Littler Mendelson and the chair of the firm's ERISA group. She is:
 
  • a Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers
  • a Charter Fellow of the College of Employment Lawyers and
  • a Charter Fellow of the College Benefits Practitioners.

Hoffman concentrates her practice in the areas of:

employee benefits litigation
  • employee benefits plan design and administration
  • employment benefits issues in corporate transactions.
  • She has represented plan sponsors, prototype plan sponsors, institutional trustees and investment managers, employer associations, multi-employer plan trustees and insurers.

    Hoffman has served on American Bar Associations committees and task forces involving merger and acquisition issues, prototype plan design, welfare benefit plan regulation and regulation of plan investments.

    She is chair of the Fiduciary Responsibility Sub-committee of the ABA's Employee Benefits Committee (Tax Section), and previously served as chair of the ABA's Employee Benefits Committee (Employment Law Section). In addition, she has served as chair of the Massachusetts Bar Association's Employee Benefits Sub-committee (Labor Law Committee).

    Hoffman received her JD from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, cum laude, 1974. MBA from the University of Pennsylvania Warton School, with distinction, 1974, and BA from Lake Forest College, with honors, 1970.

     Continuing Education Credits  

    In order to obtain continuing education credits, it is very important that we adhere to the meeting schedule, so please make every effort to time your arrival according to this schedule.

    The LEBC is applying for continuing education credits for this month's presentation with the following: Kentucky Bar Association, Joint Board of the Enrollment of Actuaries, Kentucky State Board of Accountancy, American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries, and Kentucky Department of Insurance.

    October Sub-Council Meeting

  • Meeting & Guest Policies
     
    You are invited to attend all LEBC monthly luncheon and presentation meetings as well as LEBC Sub-Council meetings.
     
    The monthly luncheon meetings are the second Tuesday of the month and begin at 11:30 a.m. with registration and a time for networking and socializing. Lunch will be served at 12 noon. Speaker presentations begin at approximately 12:15 p.m. Meetings will conclude no later than 1:30 p.m. 
     
    Guests are welcome at our monthly luncheon meetings for a fee of $50. Add your guest information to the RSVP, or notify the Membership Chair:

    Sub-Council meetings are the last Tuesday of the month and begin at 12 noon. Cost for attending these meetings is $40 for members and $50 for guests.  
     
    If you would like to attend a Sub-Council meeting, RSVP through the newsletter and pay at the door when you arrive for the meeting.

    RSVP's and Cancellation Policy
     
    Please note that members are asked to confirm their attendance at all meetings.  
     
    **No-shows are a recurring problem and continue to adversely affect the LEBC's efforts to manage expenses.**   
     
    As a result, members who need to cancel their reservation for monthly meetings, or Sub-Council meetings, must do so by noon the Friday prior to the scheduled meeting. 
     
    Members who fail to cancel a reservation for the monthly meeting and do not attend, will be billed a $25 cancellation fee.

    If a member fails to cancel a reservation for the Sub-Council meeting and does not attend, the member will be billed a $40 cancellation fee.
