September Monthly Luncheon Meeting

Parking for the September Meeting may be limited due to the Ryder's Cup and/or several conventions in town. You may want to arrive a little earlier than normal to obtain a parking spot at the Marriott.

Pamela D. Perdue, Esq., is Of Counsel to the St. Louis, Missouri law firm of Summers, Compton, Wells & Hamburg where she practices in the area of Employee Benefits. She is the author of the book Qualified Pension and Profit Sharing Plans published by Warren, Gorham & Lamont, a division of RIA (updated annually). Author of Qualified Plans: Forms, Notices and Supplementary Materials published by ALI-ABA. In addition, she is the author of numerous articles in the field of Employee Benefits, which have been published in national journals including: The Journal of Compensation and Benefits; Taxation for Lawyers; Taxation for Accountants; Taxation of Employee Benefits; The American Law Institute-American Bar Association Course Materials Journal; the International Association of Merger and Acquisition Consultants Newsletter, and The Practical Tax Lawyer. She is listed in the Best Layers in America under the Employee Benefits Section. She is a Fellow of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel and a member of its Board of Governors as well as a member of the American Law Institute. Ms. Perdue is a frequent national speaker on the topic of employee benefits having made presentations for such organizations as the American Law Institute-American Bar Association; the Southern Federal Tax Institute; the Tennessee Federal Tax Institute and numerous other organizations. She was previously an adjunct professor with the Washington University School of Law LLM in Taxation program where she taught the Advanced Pension Course.
Continuing Education Credits
In order to obtain continuing education credits, it is very important that we adhere to the meeting schedule, so please make every effort to time your arrival according to this schedule.
The LEBC is applying for continuing education credits for this month's presentation with the following: Kentucky Bar Association, Joint Board of the Enrollment of Actuaries, Kentucky State Board of Accountancy, American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries, and Kentucky Department of Insurance.
Lunch menu
Salad: iceberg wedge salad, sliced tomatoes, blue cheese crumbles, cucumber, pecans with blue cheese and balsamic dressing;
Entrée: breast of chicken with goat cheese pesto crust Madeira truffle sauce with garlic whipped potatoes; and
Dessert: classic carrot cake with bourbon créme anglaise.

Speaker Presentation
William J. Roby, Jr., CBC, Vice President/Benefits Officer/Licensed consultant was scheduled to speak at the Septemer 23 Sub-Council Meeting. However, since he will be receiving recognition from Business First on this date, at the 13th Annual "Forty Under 40 Awards Luncheon" at the Galt House, he will be unable to speak at the LEBC Meeting.
Congratulations, Mr. Roby from the LEBC on this prestigious recognition!
Our next Sub-Council Meeting is October 28. The speaker for this meeting will be announced in the next newsletter.

Meeting & Guest Policies
You are invited to attend all LEBC monthly luncheon and presentation meetings as well as LEBC Sub-Council meetings.
The monthly luncheon meetings are the second Tuesday of the month and begin at 11:30 a.m. with registation and a time for networking and socializing. Lunch will be served at 12 noon. Speaker presentations begin at approximately 12:15 p.m. Meetings will conclude no later than 1:30 p.m.
Guests are welcome at our monthly luncheon meetings for a fee of $50. Add your guest information to the RSVP, or notify the Membership Chair:

Sub-Council meetings are the last Tuesday of the month and begin at 12 noon. Cost for attending these meetings is $40 for members and $50 for guests.
If you would like to attend a Sub-Council meeting, RSVP through the newsletter and pay at the door when you arrive for the meeting.

RSVP's and Cancellation Policy
Please note that members are asked to confirm their attendance at all meetings.
**No-shows are a recurring problem and continue to adversely affect the LEBC's efforts to manage expenses.**
As a result, members who need to cancel their reservation for monthly meetings, or Sub-Council meetings, must do so by noon the Friday prior to the scheduled meeting.
Members who fail to cancel a reservation for the monthly meeting and do not attend, will be billed a $25 cancellation fee.

Special Recognition
