FALL SPORTS WRAP UP SUCCESSFULLY--BOTH LIGHTNING FOOTBALL AND VOLLEYBALL TAKE CONFERENCE REGULAR SEASON AND CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS!
The Evangel Lightning varsity football finished the 2011 season undefeated in our conference and last Friday night played Evangel Family to win the conference championship. At half-time of the game, the varsity volleyball team was recognized for also going undefeated and for winning the conference championship for the third year in a row. The varsity cheerleaders capped off their season with a spectacular half-time show, and though there is no "conference title" for our cheerleaders to hold, our cheerleaders always perform superbly and have done a great job this year as well. Way to go Lightning, and many thanks as always to the ECS administration and to the many parent volunteers and coaches who make athletics possible for ECCS students.
The football team travels to Dayton, TN, next week for an eight-man tournament and that will wrap up the season completely. Basketball season will be getting underway soon, and we hope that many ECCS parents and students will come out to the games to cheer on the basketball teams.
ECCS PARTICIPATES IN FIRST SCHOLAR'S BOWL TOURNAMENT
Mrs. Kyra Woodman is the sponsor of the school's first Scholar's Bowl teams, which participated in a tournament at Hoover High School this past Saturday in the novice division. We entered two rhetoric school teams into the competition, and both teams did a good job, with one of them making it to the quarter-finals. Thanks to Mrs. Woodman for sponsoring the teams and special thanks to Mr. Todd Parker, who introduced us to this opportunity and who has helped us through the process of getting started.
FAMILY DIRECTORIES Thanks to our PTF officers for printing and distributing this year's Family Directory. New ECCS families received this gift in September and all the other directories were distributed today to go home with the youngest student in each family.
OVER THE MOUNTAIN
Speech/Language, Hearing, and Vision screenings will be offered on Wednesday, November 9th. Additional forms are available at the grammar and logic & rhetoric desks for any MDO-12th grade student whose parents are interested in the screening. Signed forms must be sent to the front offices by Monday, November 7th. BELMONT RETAKES
Parents who were not satisfied with their Belmont school day photo proof are welcome to have their child's picture retaken on Monday, November 7th, when Belmont Studios will be back on campus. The deadline to return proofs will be extended so that parents who choose to have pictures retaken have the opportunity to compare proofs before ordering. Please e-mail Sheri Garrett at sgarrett@evangelclassical.org if you desire to have your child/ren's picture retaken so that we can have your child briefly pulled from class to have their picture made on Monday.

LOOKING FOR COUNTERS People that will count, that is! We have Campbell's labels that need counting and some Tyson labels that need counting. Once they are all counted, we can mail them in and the school will receive money or free supplies from our submissions. If you've got a couple of mornings every now and then that you can come and count labels, let Donnalee Blankenship or Traci Allen know and we'll help you get started! This is not very time consuming and it's easy to do. |

Logic & Rhetoric School Updates
|
The White Thread Now Available at Sanctuary Christian Books and Gifts
Hard copies are here! Many of you have already read Mrs. Ballstadt's new book The White Thread in electronic form, but most of you have been awaiting the arrival of the hard copies. They are here, complete with the beautiful cover designed by ECCS graduates. You can get your signed copy at Sanctuary Christian Books and Gifts or you can purchase directly from Mrs. Ballstadt at school. Sanctuary, formerly the Amen Corner, is now located in Colonial Promenade next to PetSmart.
We will be having a book-signing party from 5:00-6:00 in the gym on November 19. Mrs. Ballstadt will be signing books and will speak briefly and take questions. Don't miss the celebration! Also, those of you who have already read the book, spread the word on Twitter, Facebook, email, etc. Let's do everything we can to get the greater community aware of our own wonderful Alabaster author and these really fine books.
SGA GAME SOCIALS
The Logic School SGA is hosting a game social for all students in grades 6th - 8th from 3:00-5:00 before The White Thread book signing at 5:00. The students will play games in Houses. Admission is $2.00, and the Logic School SGA is asking 6th graders to bring 2 liter drinks, 7th graders to bring salty snacks, and 8th graders to bring sweet snacks. There will be several activities to choose from, but the Logic School House Wii Tournament (bowling, tennis, and boxing) will be the keynote activity. Afterwards, they hope everyone will stay to get their copy of The White Thread and participate in the Q & A with Mrs. Ballstadt. Beginning at 6:00, the Rhetoric School SGA will take over, and there will be a card game social for Rhetoric School students. They'll be playing the new award-winning game Drop Site, which is featured in The White Thread. Alumni who come to the book signing are invited to stay. There is no charge to attend the Rhetoric School Social, but the officers are asking for 9th graders to bring 2 liters and everyone else to bring snacks to share. This will be a nice time of fun and fellowship, so we hope everyone will come out to play together and to celebrate Mrs. Ballstadt's newest book!
CALLING GIRL BASKETBALL PLAYERS!
Girls in grades 7-12 who are interested in playing basketball for ECS need to contact Coach Letson at kennethletson@yahoo.com or 335-5365. Practice for the season has started, but we are still in need of players, so there is still time to sign up.

ACT TESTING
Sophomores are all strongly encouraged to take the ACT on or before the June, 2012 date. All juniors should be actively working toward obtaining the ACT score they desire, with a goal of having it accomplished by the summer of 2012. Seniors, there is still time at some of the schools to which you applied to get a score high enough to achieve the next scholarship level. Check out all the test dates and registration deadlines at www.act.org. When you sign up, remember our school code is 010-028.
