NEW "SCHOOL ZONE" ON THOMPSON ROAD
Thanks to the efforts of school, church, and county officials, ECCS now has two new "School Zone" signs on Thompson Road. These signs inform drivers to slow down to 35 mph during school drop-off and pick-up hours. We hope that this will curtail speeding over the hills near the school and prevent accidents as parents and students make the turn into the school parking lot. Thanks to all of you who helped and encouraged the signage!
SCHOOL PICTURES MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 26
Fall pictures will be taken on Monday.  At 8:10a.m. the entire school will have our big group picture taken on the hill beside the downstairs playground.  Immediately following our group shot, individual and class groups will be taken.  Please make every effort to have all of our ECCS students present.  Fall pictures will be taken in uniform.  (Chapel dress for L&R students.)

AFTER-HOURS CARE PICK-UP
Remember that due to the roofing repairs, all After-Hours Care pick-up will be downstairs at the grammar entrance until the roofing repairs are done.

CO-CURRICULAR ART CLASSES

"Mall Day" is a time when each school in the Shelby County area can test run their Robot two weeks prior to the actual competition at UAB on October 8th.

Mall Day Begins at 1:00 PM
1:40 PM ECCS 1st Slot
3:40 PM ECCS 2nd Slot
Mall Day Ends at 4:45 PM

FALL FESTIVAL IS SATURDAY, OCTOBER 1ST

Return the orange form to order armbands for only $10 in advance.  Armbands allow unlimited access to rides and games and will cost $15 at the gate.  We also ask that you pre-order hamburger and hotdogs meals on that same form to help us better plan for supplies.

Thanks go to Beta Club students who will work the event on behalf of parents again this year. Please contact our PTF President, Traci Allen, if you are willing to volunteer to help set up and/or clean up and if we might borrow your shade tent for the day.  Thanks!

If you have any gently used stuff animals that you would be willing to donate to the MDO Adopt a Pet booth, please bring them to the downstairs desk by Thursday, September 29th.

Also, remember that the SILENT AUCTION is a great to donate items and advertise your business and/or service.  Contact Beth Sanders to arrange to donate to this year's sale.  The SILENT AUCTION makes the most convenient one stop for gift and Christmas shopping!

Email Donnalee Blankenship and ask!

You can take advantage of this deal for groceries and prescriptions!  Pick up your Publix Partners key chain card at either front desk and help us support our incredible school.

FIND ECCS USED UNIFORMS  AT PLANET THRIFT

Thank you, Donnalee Blankenship and Wendy Heitsmidt, for helping establish an "Evangel section" at Planet Thrift

Planet Thrift is a clothing consignment shop located at 519 19th Street SW in Alabaster (in the same strip mall as Food World and Cato).  Melissa Greer, the owner/operator, has partnered with Evangel to sell our used uniforms that have been donated to the school. Please go by and check out the Evangel uniform section.  Parents may also consign used uniforms.  The process is easy.  You simply bring your clean and free of holes uniforms to the store (no appointment necessary), and she will hang them and price them for you or you can have input on the pricing as well.  She will then call you when she has the items processed (hung, priced and put into her inventory) so that you may come back in to sign your consignment contract that lists your items and their prices.  She has offered to only take a 20% fee from the sale, so parents will receive 80%.  You may consign any part of the uniforms (shirts, shoes, belts, skirts, pants, sweatshirts, PE uniforms).  You could also consign regular clothes as well.  The sale split on those items would be 60% to you and 40% to her, as this is her regular ratio.  Another great option is to donate these regular items to the store and the profits will benefit Grace House Ministries in Fairfield, AL (www.grace-house.org ).  You will receive a tax deductible receipt for those items.

If you would like to donate your used uniforms to the school so that the school gets the profit from the sale, you may bring them to the school and I (Wendy Heitschmidt) will take them to Planet Thrift for you or you may leave them at the school with my name on them and I will pick them up and take them for you.  Our hope is that this partnership will serve as a great alternative to the used uniform sale.

Grammar School Updates

PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES

Isn't it amazing that we are already at Mid-term! We hope each of your children are experiencing a wonderful year in the grammar school. They are already impressing us with their gifts and abilities. We are so happy to have each student.

Each semester grammar parents are invited to schedule conferences with the grammar teachers. This can be a time to simply touch base with how well things are going or to discuss issues of concern. Our first semester conferences will be offered the week of October 3rd. Parents are encouraged to call Susan Morgan at 216-0149 to schedule a time to speak and conference with teachers.

Logic & Rhetoric School Updates
ROOFING WORK UNDERWAY
Construction on the new roof began right on schedule this Monday, and so far our L & R morning drop off and afternoon car lines have been very smooth.  We have just a couple of requests below that we believe will increase the safety and efficiency of the system:

-In the morning, please drop off at one of the four numbered cones only. We added those to give you a clearer picture of where to drop off.  Pull forward to the foremost cone, and please don't let your student out until you are at one of the four cones.

-During the day, please use the downstairs Grammar entrance for all school business. Also, please be attentive not to block the drive in and out of  the church office--thanks.

-In the afternoons, please don't park in the back parking lot and then pull into the car line.  The students are called by number to the correct cones, and when cars pull into the car line, it confuses the system by pushing the waiting parents back to a different numbered cone.  If you park in the back parking lot where pick up is occurring we ask that you wait until the car line has cleared before pulling out.  If you are in a hurry to get out, we ask that you park in the parking lot next to the Grammar School playground.

Thank you so much for your cooperation and gracious response to the situation.  The students have done a great job of adapting their afternoon routines to the new drop off point, and thus far we are running the afternoon pick up in about the same time as we had done upstairs. Thanks again!

ITALIAN ICE ON TUESDAYS
Remember Italian Ice on Tuesdays!  The students are loving this tasty treat.  Bring $2.00 exact change.
