EVANGEL LIGHTNING'S FIRST HOME GAME
Everyone is invited to come out tonight for the ECCS FIRST HOME GAME at Pelham High School, 7:00 p.m. Come help cheer Evangel Lightning on to victory!
ROOFING WORK TO BEGIN ON EVANGEL CHURCH
Construction will begin on roof repairs to the shingled sections of the church building on September 12th and continue for approximately nine weeks. We ask that everyone observe signage and avoid the construction area. Security fencing, car-line instructions, and other signage will be installed. We ask that everyone observe all security and construction signage, use cross-walks, and drive extra carefully during this time.
CAMPUS CONNECTION: Essential Information for Parents
Especially for new parents, but also for those looking to reconnect, come find out where to get plugged in and who has the answers to your questions about ECCS. Find out ways to support the school and what PTF has planned for the year. It's also a great time to visit the Principals and have some light refreshments.
Two convenient times: Tuesday, September 20th at 8:00 a.m. & 7:00 p.m. Choose the one that best fits your schedule and put it on your calendar. Stay tuned for more information!
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
How will your family contribute a minimum of five volunteer hours this year? Will you help in the morning car line as a "car door opener?" Will you help with the October 1st Fall Festival? Sheri Garrett is glad to help you connect with ECCS!
Thinking that you really don't know how or where you can help? One of our long time parents, Marilyn Smith, is also looking for parents to join her in praying for our school and our students. She is looking for a parent to head up the prayer efforts for the year. Interested? Contact Marilyn directly at m.home@charter.net.
SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS NEEDED
Have you ever thought about teaching but do not want a full-time job? ECCS is in need of "a few good men--or women" who are interested in and have the basic skill set to substitute teach. "Enjoy the City" coupon books are on sale now. Help us bless our teachers with birthday goodies with the proceeds from this year's sale.
The book sells for only $20 and all checks or money orders should be made payable to: ECCS PTF. Once you have finished selling the book please place all checks and/or money in the order envelope and return to the classroom no later than Friday, September 16, 2011.

ECCS GRAMMAR END-OF-SUMMER SKATE PARTY!
All grammar students, siblings, and parents are invited to come join the fun at Roller Motion Skate Center, 2474 Morgan Road, SE, Bessemer, AL, on Friday, Sept. 9, 2011, from 1:30-3:30!
Cost: $4 per skater
Includes: Skating, drinks and cookies
Siblings are welcome!
No charge if not skating!

Beta Club Induction Ceremony September 12
The Beta Club Induction Ceremony will be held on September 12 at 8:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary. Immediately following the Beta Club Induction, we will have the induction of our first group of the Latin Honor Society. Parents are invited to attend.
Italian Ice on Tuesdays!
Remember Italian Ice on Tuesdays! The students are loving this tasty treat. Bring $2.00 exact change.
Car Line Safety
All student and parent pedestrians entering and exiting the school during carline must use the crosswalk. We've had a lot of instances of students walking out into the exiting carline, which is unsafe and causes delays in the movement of the carline. Thanks so much for your cooperation.
Balfour
A representative from Balfour will be here on Monday, September 19th to give the Juniors and Seniors information on class rings and graduation invitations. They will return on Friday, September 23 to take orders. They will be here a 8:00 both days and parents are welcome to attend. Please contact Mrs. Parks kparks@evangelclassical.org if you have any questions. Orders will require a deposit, which is usually around $60.00, though we have not yet been told what deposits will be required this year.
Thanks for a Great Luau!
Thanks to all who helped with the back to school luau. The students had a great time and are clamoring already for the next dance.
Used Uniforms for Donation
Over the years, we have collected quite a few uniform pieces from parents donating them to the school. Please feel free to come by the L & R office to peruse the contents of our used uniform boxes to see if there are pieces you may need. Any piece can be had for whatever donation you feel is fair. All proceeds will go to the Capital Campaign.

We have had a great third week of school! God has blessed us with 8 wonderful teachers and staff members and 87 precious children. Please keep our staff in your prayers this year as we seek to honor the Lord in caring for your children.
We still have openings in our 1 year old class on M,F, in our 3K classes on M, W, F and in our 4K classes on T, Th. If you are interested, stop by the downstairs desk for more information or call Kim Hill at 664-1902. |
