Logic & Rhetoric School Updates
YOU'RE INVITED!
We encourage everyone to save the dates of May 22 and May 26, our Baccalaureate and Commencement, respectively.  We are so proud of the class of 2011, so grateful to the Lord for bringing them all to ECCS, and so pleased to send them into the next phase of their lives.  These two services are very special parts of that sending, and we encourage the entire ECCS family to attend.

EXAMS SCHEDULE CONTINUES
Semester exams began Wednesday, May 18 and will run through Monday, May 23. The remaining schedule is as follows:

Thursday, May 19:         Third and Fourth Period Exams
Friday, May 20:              Fifth and Six Period Exams

Monday, May 23:           Seventh and Eighth Period Exams

Please avoid absences during exams except in cases of true illness or emergency.

EARLY DISMISSAL (1:00) ON MAY 23,24, & 25!

The L & R School will dismiss at 1:00 on May 23, 24, and 25.  Exams will be concluded on May 23.  Then on May 24, we will hold SGA and NJCL elections, have a special celebration for Miss Natalie Harris, who is getting married this August and will therefore be leaving ECCS.  Then on May 25, we will have Awards Day.  The Logic and Rhetoric program will begin at 10:30.

ACT WORKSHOPS for JUNE 11 ACT TEST TAKERS

For any students who plan to take the June 11 ACT test, there will be two free Saturday workshops on May 28 and on June 4.  Students will need to bring a calculator, pencils, the formula list provided to them by Mrs. Richardson, and snacks / lunch.  The workshop will run from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. each day and will consist of general instruction, a full-lenghth practice test, including essay, and scoring / discussion following. So that we will have enough materials on hand, students must sign up with Mrs. Bell (list posted on her office door, or email her at mbell@evangelclassical.org).  We do ask that only students who are taking the June 11 test attend these dates.

INTERESTED IN ADDITIONAL ACT WORKSHOPS?

If there is demand for it, we will hold a summer series of five half-day workshops for rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors.  The cost of that series will be $30.00 to cover the cost of the book we will use, and the class will meet on Friday mornings from 8:00 - 12:00. While they are subject to change, the classes are tentatively scheduled for June 3,  June 10, June 24, July 1, and July 29. Homework will be assigned between classes to hopefully keep the students on a schedule of purposeful test preparation all summer. Should you desire to attend this summer workshop series, please sign up at the front desk with Mrs. Holcombe and submit your $30.00 check for materials. Should the class not make, the check will be returned to you.  The deadline to sign up is Friday, May 27. The class will need at least eight participants to make, and will be limited to the first twenty students to sign up.
