SPRING CLASSICAL CONNECTION

The Spring Classical Connection will be on Wednesday and Thursday, April 13th and 14th. This is our way of presenting to the public an overview of Evangel Classical Christian School. Classical education is a new concept for most people, and the Classical Connection is an excellent tool for communicating the classical methodologies.

Many parents are looking for school options as our educational climate changes. We feel ECCS can be the answer they are looking for. Please use the Classical Connection postcards, which were sent home with report cards last week, to share with friends, neighbors and family members who have or will have school-aged children. Word of mouth is our greatest advertisement and the postcards can be nice conversation starters for you to tell your ECCS story. There are more postcards available in the offices, and the detailed time schedule is on our website, www.evangelclassical.org, if you'd like to direct friends thereThanks for supporting ECCS!

YOU ARE INVITED!

Friends of fourth grade teacher, Rebekah Mack, bride-to-be of Landon McKee, invite interested parents and students to celebrate their upcoming union at her bridal tea on Saturday, April 16th, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Weatherly Clubhouse.  For more information and/or to RSVP: monieingram@gmail.com

8TH ANNUAL EVANGEL CLASSIC

Dads and golfers are invited to join us for our annual Golf Tournament on April 28th!  You can find more information and register online

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES AT ECCS FOR 2011-2012

ECCS is looking for part and/or full time faculty for L&R Bible, History, Literature, Latin, Spanish and a 5th Grade Classroom and part-time Grammar Latin teacher for the 2011-2012 school year.  Applications can be picked up from our office or downloaded from the website.

SCRIP MEETING

Our next Informational Meeting will be Tuesday, April 19th in the evening.  Watch for more information about what time and place.  Scrip Orders go out this Monday morning at 9 a.m.  Check your budget and see what you are getting ready to spend anyway.  Order it from Scrip and make some money back for your tuition!  Email Donnalee Blankenship if you have questions.

EASY MONEY - RECYCLING

Don't throw those old printer cartridges away!  Bring them to school and we can send them in and earn money for ECCS.  Upgrading your digital camera or getting a new MP3 player?  Bring us your old ones!  We can recycle cell phones, iPods and laptops, too!  They all earn ECCS money!  Look for these and other ways to support ECCS here.

Grammar Updates

Grammar Room Moms Luncheon

Thursday, April 21st

With the ECCS Golf tournament just around the corner, grammar students will have a classroom competition for the homeroom which raises the most money in sponsorships! So, parents, send in those hole, cart, and banner sponsors to help your child's class win the prize!

As always, thank you for your support!

Logic & Rhetoric School Updates

PE Uniform Note

It has come to our attention that Logic School students have been borrowing each other's uniforms from one PE class to the next. We have asked the students to stop this practice for hygiene reasons and so that every student will have his or her own uniform when needed. So, Logic School students, please bring your own uniforms for PE classes!

Cell Phone / Laptop Use

Thanks so much to most of our students, who generally do not abuse either the school's cell phone policy or take advantage of the fact that they can use laptops in school.  For the sake of clarity, however, as we have had several instances recently of students not being aware of exactly what the rules are, we thought it would be good to refresh everyone on the rules:

Cell phones may not be used for any purpose at any time during the school day.  Students may not use their phones to text or call until they are dismissed from school and have exited car line. Student who violate this rule will receive a level two demerit, and the phone will be confiscated and returned to the parent.

Laptops may be used only for purposes specifically designated by and supervised by the faculty.  Students may not use their laptops for any non-approved, non-supervised activity, including cyber communication, video playing or recording, game playing, etc.  Students who violate this rule will lose the privilege of using their laptops for non testing purposes.

Spirit Day Friday, April 15th, For Logic and Rhetoric School ONLY!

Next Friday, April 15th, is a special L & R Spirit Day. Students may wear this year's Spirit Day t-shirt or their Protocol t-shirt only. Girls and boys may wear knee length Bermuda shorts or jeans.  All students should wear closed-toes, closed heel shoes--tennis shoes preferred. The students will have a special afternoon of House Games after our Walk-a-thon Celebration. All students should bring a water bottle or two to have during the games, which will be held outside, weather permitting.

The Importance of Being Earnest, April 14-16

The Class of 2011 will present Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest on April 14-16 in the Evangel gym.  This classic British play, which comedically exploits the shallowness that was often found in British aristocratic manners of the turn of the twentieth century, has been delighting audiences since 1895.  Premium tickets, which include seats at one of twelve tables, where guest will be served tea and refreshments, are $10.00 and are extremely limited in number.  Tickets are now on sale.  You can get them from any senior, or you can email Mrs. Bell to reserve your ticket.  Student tickets, which do not include table seating, will be on sale for $5.00 as well, but again, we will only be selling a limited number each evening.  All tickets will be sold on a first come / first serve basis, and Saturday night tickets are already limited. Please reserve your ticket and join them for an evening of manners, tea, and laughter.  All proceeds from the play will go towards the Class of 2011's Senior Gift to the school.

Save the Date
The Logic School Drama Club will produce The Seusodyssey, a hilarious rendition of Homer's Odyssey, as it would have sounded had the immortal Dr. Seuss told the story.  The play will be performed on May 6th and 7th.  The May 6th performance is at 7:00, and the May 7th performance is at 2:00.

June ACT Registration Deadline May 6
Juniors who have not yet achieved the ACT score they desire and who are not registered to take the test this April are strongly encouraged to sign up for the June 11 ACT test.  The deadline for registration is May 6.  Sophomores who have not yet taken the test (and who are not registered to take it in April) are strongly encouraged to take the June test also.
Evangel Mother's Day Out & Preschool Updates

MDO Spring Pictures are scheduled for April 19th & 20th.  This is a great time to allow siblings to have pictures taken together.  Also, we will have class pictures taken at this time.
