SNOWBALL RUN
There are only 2 days left to until our first ever Snowball Run on January 22nd, 2011. Registration will begin at 7 AM and the race will start at 8 AM. We encourage all families at ECCS to participate. Each participant receives a prize packet which includes a race t-shirt. Registration is $25 per person for the 5K & 10K and $15 per person for the 1-mile Family Fun Run. For more information visit our official Snowball Run website. SCRIP CAN WORK FOR YOUThe key to making the most out of Scrip is to purchase your regular monthly items with a gift card. Gas cards, Walmart or Target, pharmacy cards, eating out, clothing or Visa. Regular Scrip purchases add up to big tuition credits and continuing funds for ECCS. Contact the Scrip Coordinator if you have any questions. Over $900 in tuition credit has just been applied to our family accounts! Yay! 2011 WALK-A-THONThis year ECCS will enjoy our 4th Annual Student Walk-a-Thon! In years past, the Walk-a-Thon has been held in conjunction with our Golf Tournament at Timberline in April. This year, however we are moving the date to March 3rd and the location to Veteran's Park here in Alabaster! The student kickoff for the Walk-a-Thon will be January 31st, so be on the lookout for the materials and information to be sent home that day. THE SIX & THE ORACLE NOW AVAILABLE ON KINDLEThe first two installments of The Gateway Chronicles, authored by Evangel Classical's own Karin Ballstadt, are now available on Kindle for only $8.99! Only the brave and shrewd Robin Hood can secure Nottingham for the safe return of the king.
Come and see Robin and his merry band as they work to save Maid Marian and the people of Sherwood Forest. Hi, Ho, Robin Hood is a family entertainment at its utmost and is filled with many action packed sword fights and delightful songs. Logic & Rhetoric School Updates |
Service Day
The Beta Club, under the leadership of sponsor Mrs. Martha Earwood is planning a school wide service day for all students grades 6-12 on February 18. All the students and teachers will go out into the community on various service projects. Students will need to pack a sack lunch. Please be in prayer for this day to be a blessing to the students and to the community. This will be a huge organizational effort, and many volunteer drivers will be needed. We will also need volunteers to coordinate our group snack after the students come back in from their projects. If you are interested in volunteering to drive or help organize and / or provide for the snack, please email Kim Parks at kparks@evangelclassical.org.
Menu Announced for the Third Annual ECCS Winter Cotillion Many thanks to our Cotillion planning committee members who have been working hard on Cotillion planning. Then menu has been finalized. The students will have a salad, followed by a main course of teriyaki chicken with wild rice and a vegetable medley. For dessert, they will have chocolate cake with raspberries and raspberry sauce. Tickets are still on sale for $30. Please remember to purchase yours by January 28th.
The Cotillion will be held on Friday, February 11 in the Evangel gym. Students will be dismissed at 1:00 that day so that they can rest up and get ready for the evening. The event will begin at 6:30 and end at 10:00. Dress for the Cotillion is semi-formal. Girls should wear dresses, and boys needs to wear coats and ties. Dresses should not be too short, too tight, or too revealing in any way. For the Cotillion, we do ask that girls choose their dresses carefully, avoiding strapless dresses, dresses that show any cleavage, and dresses that are too short. We will not require shrugs for dresses that have straps, however. If you have any question about a particular dress, please don't hesitate to ask Mrs. Parks.
The Snow Ball
The Second Annual Snow Ball, an informal dance sponsored by the International Travel Club, will be held on January 22, the night of our Snowball Run. The Logic School Dance (grades 6-8) will be held from 5:30-7:30, and the Rhetoric School Dance (grades 9-12) will be held from 7:30-10:00. Dress is casual, and due to popular demand, denim is now allowed. The IT Club does request, however, that no jeans be worn that are ripped or torn. Also, jeans must fit properly--no below the waist jeans for guys and no skin tight jeans for girls. There will be music, games, prizes, and snacks. Tickets are $5.00 in advance or at the door. As a special nod to our eighth graders (who are almost freshmen), the IT Club has invited all eighth graders who attend the Logic School Dance to stay for the Rhetoric School Dance as well. Please note, however, that only eighth graders who attend the Logic portion of the dance are eligible for this privilege. Please be wise in your dress choices--dress modestly and appropriately for dancing and games, with nothing too tight, too revealing, or too short.
Dance, Dance, Dance! Logic School students are enjoying their dance lessons in PE, and we had a great turn out for the Rhetoric School dance lessons last Friday. Rhetoric School students, don't forget the dance lessons this Friday from 3:30-4:30. Due to Grammar drama rehearsal, we will have the dance lessons in the foyer again. |
