Re-Enrollment Dates and Classical Connection
| ECCS Re-enrollment dates are just around the corner! As you prayerfully consider your educational options for the coming year, we hope you will choose to continue building upon the foundation of a Christian worldview and the Trivium. The classical model of education is a tried and true educational approach which follows the natural development of a child's intellect. It begins with the grammar level by presenting the basic facts and principles of learning. It progresses to the logic level by recognizing the students' ability to reason, their natural curiosity, and the desire for ordering of information. Then it matures in the rhetoric stage in which students learn to think critically, integrate information, and communicate effectively. Many parents are looking for just such a model. Please tell your friends and neighbors about ECCS. Invite them to attend our open house "Classical Connection" on the following dates:
Wednesday, January 12th Logic & Rhetoric 8:15-11:00
Thursday, January 13th Grammar 8:00-10:00 Friday, January 14th Grammar 8:00-10:00
We hope each of you will continue your journey with us as we strive to teach Christianly and classically.
Re-enrollment dates are:
Existing families: January 18th-February 7th Priority families: February 7th-February 28th Open enrollment: March 1st
Re-enrollment forms will be sent to all existing families in January. Please be reminded that existing families who wish to apply for Financial Aid for the 2011-12 school year must do so between their enrollment date and April 1st. More information will be forthcoming in January concerning this process. |

Announcing the Third Annual ECCS Winter Cotillion Formal invitations to the third Annual Winter Cotillion were given to the students before Christmas, and we have heard that they are very excited about their upcoming big event.. The Cotillion will be held on Friday, February 11 in the Evangel gym. Students will be dismissed at 1:00 that day so that they can rest up and get ready for the evening. Tickets are $30.00 and will cover the costs associated with the event, including a three course meal. Tickets will go on sale on January 4th and must be purchased by January 28th. The event will begin at 6:30 and end at 10:00. Dress for the Cotillion is semi-formal. Girls should wear dresses, and boys needs to wear coats and ties. Dresses should not be too short, too tight, or too revealing in any way. The girls did a wonderful job of choosing their dresses for the Masquerade, and we are confident that they will make good choices for the Cotillion as well. For the Cotillion, we do ask that girls choose their dresses carefully, avoiding strapless dresses, dresses that show any cleavage, and dresses that are too short. We will not require shrugs for dresses that have straps, however.
The Snow Ball
A note for those students who don't want to have to wait until February for the next dance--you don't have to! The Second Annual Snow Ball, an informal dance sponsored by the International Travel Club, will be held on January 22, the night of our Snowball Run. More details from the IT Club will be given to the students next week.
Dance, Dance, Dance! If you have a Logic School student, you have probably already heard the news. Week after next, they will begin receiving dance lessons during their PE lessons. Curt and Wendy Johnson, certified ballroom dance instructors, will be working with them. Rhetoric School students will also have the opportunity to have the Johnsons instruct them on certain Friday afternoons between now and the Spring Protocol Dance. We will post that schedule in the next few weeks. We are so excited about the opportunity to have the Johnsons as our dance instructors, and we know the kids will have a great time learning some new steps. |

Evangel Athletic Update
Del Clayton Named Varsity Football Coach
From the Athletic Director, Howard O'Neal:
After two very successful years and much thinking and prayer, Varsity Coach Wayne Price has decided to turn the reins over. Wayne did a very good job filling a void two years ago, and ECCS and ECS thank him very much for his contribution to the Evangel program. Wayne put in many, many hours and asked for nothing in return. As most of you know, his son graduated several years ago. He loves the program and the boys that have come through. He still wants to be a part of the football team in whatever capacity is needed of him and how he thinks he can contribute.
With that, I and the Athletic Committee have asked the former Junior High coach of three years, Del Clayton to step up as the new Varsity coach. Del was glad to accept the position and is putting his staff together as this goes out. Del is actually working with several people to fill the JH positions that have been vacated. He will send more out on that later.
Again, we want to thank Wayne Price for his contribution to the program and we ask that you keep Del in your prayers as he enters a new era.
