| Mark your calendars! You are invited to join ECCS as we welcome best-selling author Eric Metaxes on Sunday evening, October 17th at 7:00. Eric Metaxas has written for VeggieTales, Chuck Colson, and the New York Times, three things not ordinarily in the same sentence. He is a best-selling author whose biographies, children's books, and works of popular apologetics have been translated into several languages.
Metaxas was for two years a writer and editor for Chuck Colson's Breakpoint, a nationally syndicated daily radio program with over 400 stations and a weekly audience of five million. He then worked as a writer for VeggieTales. Eric's children's books for VeggieTales include the #1 bestseller God Made You Special! (over 600,000 copies in print), as well as Even Fish Slappers Deserve a Second-Chance and The Pirates Who (Usually) Don't Do Anything, both also bestsellers.
He is the founder and host of Socrates in the City: Conversations on the Examined Life, a monthly event of"entertaining and thought-provoking discussions on 'life, God, and other small topics'" that features such speakers as Dr. Francis Collins, Sir John Polkinghorne, Baroness Caroline Cox, Dana Gioia, Os Guinness and Peter Kreeft. To read more you may visit www.ericmetaxas.com
We look forward to this special event in the life of our school. Tickets for the event may be purchased at www.graceandcourage.eventbrite.com , by order form which will be sent home with ECCS students, or obtained at the book table in the ECCS office. |

Logic & Rhetoric School News | |
The Logic and Rhetoric School Open House will be held tonight, August 26, beginning at 7:00 p.m. We will first meet briefly in the sanctuary for a few general announcements and instructions. Then the parents and students will walk through the students' daily schedule, with five minutes allotted to each "period." The evening will provide an opportunity for parents to associate a face with each of your child's teachers and vice versa. Though there will not be enough time during the Open House for individual parent - teacher conferences, our prayer for the event is that it will open strong lines of communication between teachers and students and answer your general questions about the individual classes. We hope to see you all "back in school" tonight.
Beta Club Induction August 30
Parents are welcome to attend our Jr. and Sr. Beta Club Induction ceremony on Monday, August 30. The ceremony will begin at 8:05 in the sanctuary. Thanks to Mrs. Martha Earwood for revitalizing our Beta Club!
