Did you know about Jamie's many contributions:
- Appointed by Gov. Doyle to the Judicial Advisory Council to assist in filling mid-term judicial vacancies at both the trial and appellate court levels.
- Active volunteer for the St. Croix Valley's Free Legal Clinic. He is also a volunteer small claims mediator.
- Moderator for local judicial candidate forums.
- Active member of Rotary, serving on special events and standing committees.
- Served on Board of Directors of the Local Food Shelf; active in raising funds for non-profits and charitable organizations such as the YMCA, American Cancer Society, American Lung Association and others.
- Active member of Bethel Lutheran Church, where he has been President of the Church Council, co-chaired two Capital fundraising drives, taught Sunday School for many years and served as a Confirmation Guide.
- Former candidate for 30th Assembly District.
- And Jamie has a passion for helping kids. He has visited high school driver's education classes for the past several years to talk with students about everything from traffic violations to fatal car accidents. He has served as a judge in the high school mock trial competition for more than 12 years and has spoken at Hudson schools on "Career Day."
But one of his greatest passions is working with a local cable television production, POWER News, which stands for People Of Wisconsin Envisioning Results. The show was started when it was recognized that Western Wisconsin's media is dominated by Minnesota news. The initial goal was to provide folks in Western Wisconsin access to issues that affect their lives on a local, state and federal level. The show has grown its broadcast distribution and now can be viewed weekly in over 100,000 cable-subscribing homes throughout St. Croix County, Eau Claire and Madison, Wisconsin. Jamie is the Legal and Government correspondent/host. Subjects covered include child restraint laws, legislative proposals on universal health care, income tax laws and policy, local drug court diversion program, election laws and voter registration, the role and duties of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, judicial elections, ground water standards and other environmental hazards and regulation, land conservation trusts, alternative dispute resolution, estate planning and elder law issues. Guests have included state senators, congressmen, judges, supreme court justices, mayors, police officers, tax consultants, financial advisors and attorneys. View episodes of Power News at this link.
Jamie is also a passionate runner. He recently participated on the Lommen Abdo team to raise funds for the American Lung Association in Race Up the Place! Jamie led the team to a first place finish as he climbed 30 flights of stairs in just five minutes. |
Being selected as one of the Wisconsin Law Journal's Leaders in the Law is now added to Jamie's list of accomplishments. We are proud to have Jamie Johnson on the Lommen Abdo team. |
