Blessed Lenten Greetings!

Stations of the CrossIt has been a busy three months for all of us here in the Golden Spread; we will consider that a good thing as our lives are filled with a joyful mixture of prayer, work, and community living.

Lent is more than half over! We are reminded time and time again by the Church of the atomic spiritual blast this season can be. Hopefully, with God's awesome grace, we can cooperate with His help toward a deeper repentance and renewal. We can strive to grow in living the love of God in a more powerful way!

One of our favorite devotions as Franciscans is always (not just during Lent) the Stations of the Cross. St. Francis would often meditate on the sufferings and Passion of Christ. It can be a healing experience to place ourselves in the Stations with Jesus. Sometimes we feel like Him Who was persecuted unjustly. Sometimes we realize that we have been the ones who have done the persecuting. Either way, this is a powerful prayer of grace.

God bless you all! We are praying for you!

Congratulations Sr. M. Celine!
"I Wanted So Much to be a Sister"

Sr. Mary Celine
Sr. Mary Celine
This summer, Sr. M. Celine Martinez of the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus will celebrate her golden jubilee
with the School Sisters of St. Francis in Panhandle, Texas. For more than 50 years, her vocation as a Franciscan Sister has been out of a desire to do everything for love and the greater glory of God.

Born Maria Ofelia Martinez, she endured many trials as a young teenage girl with the death of her mother as well as with many health issues. At the age of 13, she met the Victory Knoll Sisters who taught her stories from the Bible. "I thought the Sisters were so beautiful! I admired them and wished I could be a Sister and tell Bible stories about Jesus to someone else," said Sr. Celine.

Over the following years, there was a young man in her life and even plans of marriage.
