Why do we still do what our mother foundress began almost 300 years ago?  St. John Chrysostom said,

"What greater work is there than training the mind and forming the habits of the young? "

We couldn't agree more! Our schools and educational /youth programs are precious to us. May God still find us devoted to this until the end of time!

We can now accept credit cards by phone, fax, and mail.

Greetings!

This Thanksgiving, let us be truly grateful for ALL of our blessings, especially those that we take for granted or forget.

Thank You, Lord, for giving us your grace every day!  Thank you, Lord, for constantly calling us to yourself! Thank you for loving us when we are unlovable. Thank you for forgiving us SO MANY TIMES...and please help us at every moment to be a light for You in this world.

Believe it or not, the end of the liturgical year and the season of Advent are just around the corner (next Saturday evening, to be exact).

So let us prepare the way of the Lord in our hearts. Maranatha! Come, Lord Jesus!

FUN Raiser & Advent Gala Around the Corner!
The second annual School Sisters FUN Raiser and Advent Gala is just around the corner -- Saturday, December 12, to be exact. For those of you who will be able to attend, don't forget that it's in the Amarillo Civic Center Heritage Room this year!  Tickets are still available now and at the door. Call Sr. Mary Michael at 537-3182 for details.

It promises to be a great evening. Last year we were bursting at the seams in the St. Thomas gym. This year we will offer a home-cooked steak meal, calcutta boards, and the chance to win a $7500 Visa Card and a flight for two to anywhere in the world (up to $2500). It could be the trip you've been dreaming of. Other great prizes will also be a part of the reverse raffle fun.

Many people commented last year on how fun it was to watch the Sisters dance. . . (did they say fun or funny?!?)

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:
We're needing some help to get ready for the FUN Raiser and also during the festivities. If you would like to help, please fill out the form (scoll down). Select the "I want to volunteer" line.

Examples of how we need help:
  • PROJECT 1:  "Just a Bite" Dessert Table  We need volunteers to make 1 inch by 1 inch "bites" of their favorite dessert or treat. If you're interested, would you commit to 50-100 "pieces" of your favorites that will be dropped off at the Civic Center on the Saturday morning of the fundraiser? Contact Sr. Mary Michael to coordinate the kinds of desserts that are already being offered.
  • PROJECT 2:  Setting up Tables  We need volunteers to help set up tables on Saturday morning at the Heritage Room at 9:00 a.m. This should not take long if enough people come to help. We will also need help breaking down tables at the end of the fundraiser.
  • PROJECT 3:  Preparing Food  We need volunteers to help in the afternoon with preparing food. We will need volunteers to help serve the food from 6:30-8:30 p.m., refill drinks and clear tables when patrons finish their meals.
We are so overwhelmed by the generosity of those who support us in many ways! Those of you who give of your time, talent, and treasure hold a special place in our hearts now and for always. May God bless you all who have become a part of our special family.
