E-MAIL QUICK POLL
How much time do you spend in your yard every week?
quick pollStudies show that kids are spending more and more time indoors, watching TV and being online. In fact, the statistics of how much time kids are actually spending online are shocking. So we're wondering -- how much time do you and your family spend in your backyard every week? Be honest!
Click here to take our Quick Poll.

Results from our last poll ... We asked "How much variety do you have in your yard?" and we loved what you had to say!

results blue box"We've only lived in NC for a short year and a half and are so fortunate to have L.A. Reynolds so close by! Our flowers, trees and shrubs have all been purchased at your garden shop, not to mention the seeds for all our vegetables, which are growing like crazy!!"

"We love that you're friendly and knowledgeable! I'm always excited to know what's going on at L.A. Reynolds!!"

"We have over 250 varieties of perennials, grasses and shrubs, in addition to blueberries, asparagus and raspberries. We also have a full vegetable garden. Almost all this is grown organically with lots of homemade compost. Our yard is host to a great variety of birds, plus rabbits, squirrels and chipmunks."

"Thanks to the variety you have in your shop, we have variety in our yard! We love the 'old' plants -- the ones my grandmothers grew in their gardens. We also are transforming part of the yard into a cottage garden and are trying to include mostly drought-resistant plants."

"I have tomatoes in containers and cucumber plants in the "Earth Box" I purchased from L.A. Reynolds."

"We have many, many small trees, Japanese maples, shrubs and clump grasses, along with dry creeks and stone boulders and a bridge."

8 Fun Projects to Do with Kids This Summer
Summertime is the perfect opportunity to get your children interested in gardening. Teach them how simple and fun it is to grow their own vegetables and flowers!
children gardening
1. Show kids that healthy food comes from the ground! Plant a quick and easy vegetable garden using one of our above-ground garden kits. Kids will love this -- especially when they start seeing the little cucumbers and little green tomatoes growing.
2. Grow tomatoes upside down (with a Topsy Turvy Kit)!
3. Plant SUPER-SIZE flowers and veggies: We have seeds and bulbs for huge sunflowers, extra-large pumpkins, bigger-than-life dahlias and more.
4. Plant blueberry bushes and eat plump, juicy blueberries all summer long.
5. Create simple containers for your front porch. Start with geraniums and add petunias, ivy and bacopa. Let kids pick out the colors and do the work themselves.
6. Plant a PIZZA GARDEN!  Plant tomatoes, basil, oregano, peppers, mushrooms and onions.
7. Start a compost bin! Use scraps from the kitchen to create rich, black compost that you can use in your garden.
8. Create a WATER COLLECTION SYSTEM to catch rain.  Buy a rain barrel or try another method to collect rainwater and use it in your garden. You'll have pint-sized conservationists!
Enjoy the Sale!
Our spring sale is always very popular, and we hope you'll come in now and take advantage of great prices!  If you're not sure what to plant or where to plant it -- just ask a staff member for help.  Gardening is all about experimenting, creating beautiful designs and figuring out focal points.  Don't be afraid to take plants that aren't doing well in one area and move them to another!  Have fun!
