Knock-out® Roses - Easy and Popular
Knock-out® roses are simple to care for and don't require any spraying. That may be why they've become so popular! We see wonderful results with Knock-out® roses in the Triad area. They bloom continually and can grow quite large. Right now we have a great stock on Knock-out® roses in a variety of colors including: pink, yellow, white, red, rainbow and blush. Photo taken at the home of local gardener Emily S. Thank you, Emily. |
 Fungicides - Hot Right Now!
With all the rain we've had, fungicides are rapidly becoming one of our biggest sellers! If you have questions about using these products in your garden, just ask. |
Conifers Add Shape and Structure to Your Landscape
There's something elegant and wonderful about a dark green conifer. This type of plant will do well in a container or in the ground and will add structure to your garden throughout the year. An easy way to create a simple container is to plant a Dwarf Alberta Spruce in the center of a large container and then add colorful annuals around the base. Consider impatiens for the spring/summer and pansies for the fall/winter. You'll save money by keeping the same centerpiece in this arrangement year-round. Please note: if you're creating a container like the one above, you will need to keep a consistent watering schedule. Containers can dry out quickly. |
Hydrangeas in Stock
Hydrangeas are one of our summer favorites, and they're definitely a popular item at L.A. Reynolds every year. Their big, gorgeous blooms make for easy flower arrangements and add beauty and color to your landscape. Hydrangeas like to be planted in a shady spot and need plenty of water when planted this time of year. You can still safely plant them now and take advantage of great prices as long as you water them consistently. Gardeners in our area (Zone 7) generally have great success with hydrangeas. They are easy to grow and are just perfect as a border plant. |
Good Selection of Beautiful Geraniums
Geraniums are a perfect choice for container plants. They tolerate heat beautifully. Plant them in good potting soil and add in some trailers like variegated ivy. You'll have a beautiful, dressed up looking pot for your front porch or patio. Be sure to deadhead your geraniums frequently (as you see one of our staff members doing here). It helps promote new growth and will keep your geraniums full of color. |
Some Surprises in our Garden! We're having so much fun growing our very own vegetable garden right out in front of L.A. Reynolds. Recently, we snapped this picture of a perfect little green pepper! Very exciting! We started the project this year to show just how easy it really is to grow your own vegetables. It's been a lot of fun, and many of our customers have commented on how much they've enjoyed watching it grow. |

Add Ambiance to your Garden These beautifully painted wood wind chimes produce a wonderful, natural sound that's pleasant and calming. Several different motifs to choose from. |
Gorgeous Blooming Bromeliads for Indoors
Bromeliads make wonderful indoor plants. They are easy to care for and very beautiful to have in your home. Just water when the surface of the soil feels dry. Interestingly, bromeliads are members of the pineapple family. There is a lot of information about bromeliads and their care online. For a good site, click here. |
Pothos is Perfect for Indoors
Pothos ivy (or Devil's ivy) is a perfect houseplant and can last for years inside. Right now we have a beautiful selection of these plants. To care for Pothos: simply water and then allow the plant to dry out before watering again. Likes medium to low light. Now until fall, you can also feed with a weak water-soluble fertilizer. |
 For the Birds!
We love these beautifully made bird baths from Achla Designs. This one has such warm, happy colors. They come with a good looking wrought iron base as well. Birds need help finding water sources this time of year. They need water to drink, and they also love to bathe themselves. Replenish the water in your bird bath frequently, and you'll be rewarded with colorful birds in your garden.

The Key to Beautiful Plants: Watering
Certainly seems like a no-brainer: plants need water. But, just a minute: some plants like more water than others. Here are some tips:
1. In general, if the top of the soil in your container looks dry and crusty, it's time to water.
2. Some plants, like geraniums and begonias, actually like to dry out fully before they are watered again. Check for dryness by putting your finger in the soil of the plant. If the soil is very dry about an inch down, it's time to water.
3. Certain plants, like succulents, store water in their leaves and don't need frequent watering. Overwatering will most definitely harm this type of plant. 4. Hanging baskets dry out very quickly because they have air all around them. They need to be watered very consistently -- and often daily.
5. If the leaves on your plant are fuzzy, you'll want to lift the leaves up and water underneath them.
6. Plants in smaller pots will dry out very quickly. Watch them carefully.
7. Arrange to have a friend or neighbor water your plants when you leave on a vacation. Even for just a weekend. You'll be glad that you did! | |

The Plant Emergency Room
Ever since we opened our doors, we've tried to help diagnose issues with the sick, wilted and drooping plants that our customers have brought in. And we're still doing it today.
If you have a plant, bush, shrub, conifer or tree you're concerned about, you can take a picture or you can take a clipping, seal it in a ziploc bag, and bring it in for diagnosis. Our staff experts will take a look and try to recommend how to get your plant back to health. |
We love our Blooms
At L.A. Reynolds, our plants always receive tender loving care. You'll see our staff clipping, deadheading, watering and fussing over our flowering shrubs and plants every single day of the year. Plants, trees, shrubs and flowering things are our passion. Our gardening experts, like Leslie (shown left), are here to help answer your questions and make your garden more beautiful. Come see us soon!
