Dear ,
ken longWell, we've certainly had enough rain around here for a bit. Some of your spring flowers may be a little beaten down at this point!  Well, no worries. All that nice rain was wonderful for establishing roots and greening up our grass this time of year.

It's Sale Time at L.A. Reynolds.  Roses, Statuary, Hydrangeas, Azaleas, Maples, Hostas, Day Lilies and pots are now on sale!

Right now many of you are probably cleaning, planting containers and getting your porch, patio or deck ready to start grilling and entertaining.  L.A. Reynolds has colorful containers, hanging baskets and everything you need for a gorgeous landscape. We also have wonderful serving pieces and gourmet foods that will add something new to your menu this summer.

This month we hope you'll join us for several Saturday Walk & Talks.  These are our very casual educational programs led by our gardening experts. Children, strollers and well behaved dogs are welcome. Wear comfortable shoes and come learn something new -- Walk & Talks are absolutely free.

Enjoy the beauty of the Spring! -Ken Long, President

white hydrangeaGreat stock on gorgeous blooming hydrangeas
Hydrangeas grow beautifully in the Triad and there's nothing like the gorgeous pom pom flowers they produce.  Right now you'll find a wonderful selection of hydrangeas -- on sale -- at L.A. Reynolds.

Pictured to the right is a wonderful white hydrangea. This is a very sought after variety and it does sell out quickly! The pink and blue varieties of hydrangea are also very popular. Please note:  you can still plant hydrangea now as long as you establish a regular watering schedule (Mother Nature has been taking care of that lately for sure!).
PreenKeep your flowers beds beautiful (and weed free) with products like Preen
We have had a lot of rain in the Triad lately, so one thing that you may find flourishing are weeds! What you'll need to do is remove the weeds, apply Preen as directed and mulch. (We have a fantastic selection of mulch as well.) Preen works on weeds in the soil before they start to grow. It may take time now to get your beds under control but come mid-summer -- you'll be glad you made the effort!
gardeniaAdd fragrance with Gardenias
We have a fantastic selection of Gardenias at the Showcase right now.  Stop by and pick up a couple for your garden to add fragrance.  Gardenias also have beautiful dark green glossy leaves that are attractive year round.  If you have already gardenias in your garden -- this is a good time to apply a fertilizer to help with blooms.
door garden
Wow!  Our Gardens have Grown!
If you've been following our "front-door garden' project you'll be surprised by what's been happening lately.  All the rain mixed with some sunshine has really helped our gardens take off! We really started this project to show just how easy it is to grow veggies, herbs and hot peppers in your garden and it really doesn't take up a whole lot of space.  Stop by and see what's been happening!
hostaPerfect for shade: Hostas
Hostas add green to your landscape and come in many beautiful varieties.  Right now hostas are 20% off.  You can certainly still plant them now in a nice shady spot and continue to water so they'll be well established by fall.  Choose either a solid green or variegated leaf or mix them.

Oka b flip flopsCheck Out our Oka b Flip Flops
Oka b Flip Flops have been incredibly popular this spring (apparently even Oprah loves them!). These inexpensive flip flops are known for their soft, molded foot beds -- and cute styles. They're made of a rubber material so they're easy to care for and lots of fans tell us that they are incredibly comfortable to walk in.  We like all the different styles -- especially this cute one with the flower on it (perfect for L.A. Reynolds!).  There's also a really fun pair with a big rhinestone on the top. Come check them out!
gardening bagGarden Totes Now 50% Off -- Perfect for Organizing your Tools

BIRD BOUTIQUE
nest with eggs
Don't forget to Feed the Birds!
Many people think they can stop feeding wild birds now that spring has arrived.  But that's not the case! Right now many birds are building nests and feeding their babies -- so they're hungry. Spring time feeding is really a must.

This time of year really is perfect for bird watching.  Come buy a feeder and install it near a window.  You'll love seeing colorful birds throughout the day!  And yes, you may see a pesky squirrel or two trying to eat your feed.  We sell a great "anti-squirrel feeder" which gently tosses off squirrels.  It's actually great fun to watch.

A Primer for Terra cotta Pots
Terracotta potsTerra cotta pots are beautiful and we sell an enormous variety of shapes and sizes at L.A. Reynolds. The good news is that these beautiful, natural clay pots can be used and reused.  In fact, we love the look of terra cotta pots as they "season".  One important note if you're planning to replant in last year's pots -- it's important to give them a thorough cleaning. Here are some steps:
1.  Take a pot scrubber or some steel wool to scrub your pots.  Knock off all the dirt, debris and stuck on plant material.
2.  Wash your pots with a bleach and water solution to eliminate harmful bacteria that can kill plants.
3.  Use fresh potting soil and plant away.
4.  Keep up the watering -- the heat is coming!
All Light Weight Pottery Pots are now 20% off
