United Way Closes 2008 Campaign

United Way of Greater Knoxville (UWGK) announced today that fundraising efforts for the 2008 campaign have come to an end with $12,587,327 pledged.  Although the campaign has ended, pledges may still be made to the 2008 campaign through March 31, 2009.

"We knew this was going to be a hard year to raise money," said UWGK Campaign Chair, Mintha Roach, "but Knoxville has always been a community that reaches out in times of need.  I have seen firsthand and been impressed with the number of people who care about this community and volunteer their time or make a donation to help others less fortunate.  The people of Knoxville have stepped up and responded to the need in our community in a way that no other city in the state has.  The funds raised by this campaign will make a difference in the lives of many for years to come." ...
