United Way of Stanislaus County President/CEO, Francine DiCiano shows the savings for Stanislaus County residents

Since the inception of the program in Stanislaus County in April of 2006, we have helped members of our community save $511,762 on their prescription drugs.

This is one of many ways United Way of Stanislaus County is working to make a difference in the lives of low-income families and children in the community where we work and live.

If you would like a FamilyWize Savings Discount Card (which are free), contact Christopher Scott at the United Way Office at 523-4562 ext. 124 or cscott@uwaystan.org

No one is cherished in this world more than someone who lightens the burden of another.

TEEN IS TRANSFORMED THROUGH HAVEN
WOMEN'S CENTER
twooneone

We're proud to share success stories of people in our community who have been helped by one of the United of Way of Stanislaus County's Partner Agencies.

This story is from the Haven Women's Center Teen Services Program which is partially funded by United Way of Stanislaus County:

The first time we met this 7-year-old girl, her mother let us know she had Fetal-alcohol Syndrome and was sometimes difficult.

Immediately before the first group, she looked at our facilitator & said, "oh h**l no." During the first group she was extremely uncooperative, using vulgar language and was hostile. She told one of the facilitators that she hated her, she refused to sit down, answer questions or participate in general.

Before the next session, the facilitators sat down with both the child and her mother. There was a discussion regarding her behavior, she was given an opportunity to tell us her needs and expectations while the facilitators explained their needs and expectations.

Together they brainstormed healthy ways to communicate if she felt frustrated or upset. By the second session, there was a dramatic turn around. She was polite and participated appropriately. Through the series her behavior continually improved. She was excited to come to group, participated appropriately and helped explain things to her brother.

She successfully graduated from our Kids Count Program!
