SUCCESS STORYtwooneone

We're proud to share success stories of people in our community who have been helped by one of the United of Way of Stanislaus County's partner agencies.

This story is from Community Hospice and the Alexander Cohen Hospice House.

Recently we cared for Joe, a 46 year-old homeless man with terminal liver cancer.

His only caregiver was his elderly mother Melinda who was unable to give him the care he needed in his final days of life. He had spent several weeks in the hospital, but was discharged to his mother. Thanks to the funding of the United Way, the loving staff of Alexander Cohen Hospice House welcomed him with open arms.

Joe was able to spend his final days with his mother by his side, safe from the elements of the street and treating with dignity and compassion.

The greatest charm of all power is modesty.

THANK YOU FOR USING SHARES.H.A.R.E.S.

Many people are already using SHARES Cards to make a difference in our community.  The cards are free and the process is simple.

When you shop at Save Mart or Food Maxx, ask the cashier to swipe your SHARES Card at the register, and 3 percent of that purchase will go to supporting  the United Way of Stanislaus County.

By using this free card, you can give back to the community where you work and live and make a difference.

Every three months the Save Mart and Food Maxx corporate office sends us a check reflecting the amount earned for the United Way through SHARES purchases.

We are proud to announce that our last check was $568.44!

Thank you for using your SHARES Card to support our work!  And thank you to Save Mart Supermarkets for your generosity!

*If you do not have a SHARES Card, let us know and we will send you one, or two!
