CALLS WE RECEIVE, HOW WE HELP
|
| During the next few months we will share some of the calls our 2-1-1 United Way operators receive. Their job is to provide information and referrals to those in need in our county.
What is 2-1-1? 2-1-1 is an easy-to-remember help-line anyone can call in Stanislaus County from a land line or cell phone to get information on food, clothing, shelter, counseling or any other basic human needs.

A 2-1-1 employee received a call from a single mother of four children, ages 12, 7, and twin 2 year-olds, who were in need of a refrigerator. The family had previously been homeless and just moved into a place of their own. The mother was referred to Advancing Vibrant Communities who was able to connect her with a refrigerator. The single mother was happy that she would be able to have a fresh start with her children.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE
|

We always appreciate companies that encourage employees to be active in their community. Citibank employees from the Turlock and Ceres locations, along with their families, spent Saturday, Oct. 23, with their families volunteering to help clean up the We Care Shelter and United Samaritans Foundation. More pictures on our Facebook page.

Volunteers at local nonprofits in the community are always needed. If you would like to volunteer, please contact the VolunteerCenter of United Way at 524-1307 or volunteer@uwaystan.org or visit www.1800volunteer.org |
