VOLUNTEERS . . . MUSIC TO OUR EARS

On Wednesday, May 26th United Way held the annual Campaign Finale & Volunteer Recognition event sponsored by Don's Mobile Glass, The Jalli Group of Merrill Lynch and Mocse Credit Union.
 Over 150 United Way donors, volunteers and advocates gathered for a luncheon at the Martin Petersen Event Center in Modesto to recognize volunteers and to celebrate Untied Way's accomplishments for the 2009-2010 Fundraising Campaign.
The total for United Way's 2009 - 2010 Fundraising Campaign is $1,976,453!!!
 At the event United Way's Board Chair Leonard Jalli commented, "Amidst record breaking unemployment figures and a downturn in the economy, donors dug deep into their pockets and looked beyond their own economic challenges to give to others. We had 15 new campaigns totaling $52,982 in new dollars."
Jean Smith presented Dawn Tacker from the Center for Human Services was winner of the Bette Belle Smith Campaigner of the Year Award. Dawn took on the position of campaign coordinator in her first year as an employee and has conducted it successfully since 2000.
At the luncheon we were privileged to honor three programs who each demonstrated a commitment to change lives in our community in the areas of Education, Income: Crisis to Stability, and Health.
