"BE THE CHANGE" . . . MADE SOME CHANGE!!!
| On Friday, April 16th United Way held the 1st Annual, Be the Change. . . Donate Your Change event.
This "fun"raiser was an effort to collect spare change donations in order to help support United Way Partner Agencies who serve and help people in need.
An amazing $2,787.47 in spare change was raised from this great community event!

Your local United Way of Stanislaus County is committed to finding new and fun ways that everyone can participate in giving back to the community. Whether your donation was a penny or a dollar, it all added up!
These additional funds will go directly to local non-profits committed to making our community a better, safer and healthier place to live. Thank you for all the volunteers and the spare change donors.

| SERVING THOSE IN NEED | Joe's dreams for his four children are not untypical: "I'd like for them to have a nice big college fund, to have a nice childhood . . . to be happy."But this Modesto man and his children - a 7-year-old son and daughters ages 5, 4 and 2 - face higher hurdles than most families. Joe is separated from the children's mother and struggling financially. He's spent time in jail. Still, Joe has a new job and child care and a hope that the children might be in a permanent home by Christmas. For all this he gives a lot of credit to Friends Outside (a United Way Partner Agency) which assists families of incarcerated people as well as the imprisoned themselves. "They helped me get on my feet," Joe says. "They helped me with clothes, tools and a lot of (telephone) numbers - places that I could go to get help." |
