Renting Wins Over Buying
 
Renting is a great option in San Diego todayEven as rents start nudging upwards, Trulia.com has released a study showing what a great place San Diego is for renting. Ranked eighth in the country, Trulia's president observes "buying there is significantly more expensive than renting." And with UCLA's Anderson Forecast showing Southern California's economy improving faster than much of the rest of the country, there's probably room there to start raising rents a bit faster than the past few years have allowed.

Demand for apartments in Orange County is growingDemand for apartments in Orange County is solidly back into the mid-nineties - a full two-points above the low-point of a year ago. Substantial apartment absorption has now taken place for three straight quarters. Rents have largely stabilized, thanks in great part to demand surpassing completions during recent months. There are still some bumps on the horizon for top-end properties, with several completions scheduled over the next six months. Still, after what we've just gone through, that challenge should be relatively easy.
