Energy Efficiency Building Codes Are ComingRetrofitting buildings for better energy efficiency
The Retrofit for Energy and Environmental Performance (REEP) program (Peter Welch - D, VT) provides financial incentives to retrofit buildings to make them more energy efficient. Expected to help property owners save money on energy bills. REEP has already been added to Senate Bill S. 949 and is expected to reach the House floor soon as part of HR 2454. The energy savings would exceed the State of New York 's entire annual energy use.
 
Mandatory Recycling's ComingRecycling Law updates are coming
California's Integrated Waste Management Board has drafted a proposal requiring all businesses, apartment complexes and mobile home parks to be recycling their waste no later than Jan. 1, 2012. Based in part on San Diego's rules for recycling and resident education (which will be fully in effect by January 1, 2010), AB 473 will be implemented locally and must provide all residents access to recycling collection.
